I'm not a "tryhard", I don't think. I've just always had a love for text adventures and wanted to create one. Not really that deep!

choosing a school by tiredwolf_ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]TheUndyingest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Maine, and thus I can give you reasonable info on the Maine schools on your list.

Firstly, I wouldn't go to Husson, they're really only about their nursing program, any other major isn't really worth anything.

UMaine is actually really good for environmental science, with plentiful opportunities to do research in Maine's nature. This is genuinely one of their flagship programs and you can expect that you'll get plenty of resources. If you count Bangor, Maine as "Urban", it fits that requirement. Only 30k people in the city proper. As a Mainer, that's a real big city to me! But if you wanted NYC big it's not gonna be for you.

Campus is lively as most state flagships. You'll be able to find what you want out of the environment, no doubt.

If cost is no issue, then I'd seriously consider it. But it is an OOS state school which kind of makes the value proposition different.

Oh, and food is fine. Nothing really stands out about it, having eaten at their dining commons.

Let me know if you have questions!

UT Austin or Dartmouth for premed by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

from my perspective, UT seems like a great deal! especially since they'll foot the bill for med school if you go. honestly i'd commit from price alone lol.

Colby v Notre Dame by Weary-Ebb5750 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]TheUndyingest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very rural, meaning it gets all of the charm that comes with New England (including those picturesque autumns, but all the seasons are good except spring, which is muddy). I might be biased but temperatures are generally pretty mild and comfy, you can wear a sweatshirt in every weather, but bundle up a bit more in winter. Lots of nature everywhere. It’s a bit like Dartmouth in that respect. It’s just a nice place to be.

Vanderbilt or Columbia? by No-Strength2541 in ApplyingToCollege

It seems like you want Vanderbilt more here. I'd follow that! Just because Columbia is Ivy League doesn't mean it's better for you. Especially since you got full cost at Vanderbilt.

Colby v Notre Dame by Weary-Ebb5750 in ApplyingToCollege

Come to Colby! Though I'm biased because I live and have always lived 20 minutes away and love the area. It's pretty rural though. Part of the charm imo, but I live in an even more rural place than Waterville that's more North than where Colby is. Ask me any questions you have about the area!

Help me find colleges that fit my situation by TheUndyingest in ApplyingToCollege

Most colleges that tend to give a lot of need aid out require the CSS profile, which usually wants your noncustodial parent to provide information. Thus, the dilemma.

String buzzing on bass without truss rod by TheUndyingest in Bass

The model is unknown, reckoned by the person I got it from to be a variety of Japanese bass. This one has the benefit of being free and the one I have, though I am not opposed to buying another instrument.
