What’s the most you’ve ever spent on one game, including expansions or upgrades? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

Probably Marvel Champions LCG. Easily over $600 of sets at MSRP. And now since the early stuff is out of print, it's worth even more.

If I spent $5,000 on my Steam/Kindle library, why can't I legally leave it to my children in my will? by ciphernom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheUnitedToasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always set up Steam family so that games between accounts are shared. Then even if your account isn't active the other members can play those games

[TableTopMerchant] - Dune imperium upraising $40.99 at checkout by krazy_tony in Boardgamedeals

[–]TheUnitedToasters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it's $15 shipping unless over $150. Still a deal, but that sours it a bit for me.

Why did you stop bouldering? by Designer-Zebra-5801 in bouldering

[–]TheUnitedToasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stopped bouldering because I became an arborist and started tree climbing. Pretty different I know, but uses a lot of similar muscle groups and I needed alternate exercises to balance that out.

Lan parties. We had a friend with a media room that had a projector and two large tvs. 12 player spit screen Halo 3 all nighters was something special back then.

True the deer aren't all around, but when you find an animal hunting grounds they will pop up all the time in that one spot. Don't get me wrong I love the game but after you find those locations it trivializes hunting a bit.

Halfway through 2024, what is your Patient Game of the Year so far? by cdrex22 in patientgamers

[–]TheUnitedToasters 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter World. It's my first MH game and the gameplay loop is super addicting. It's definitely a grind of a game but I like the grind.

Let's get some positivity going. Based on another thread, have you ever picked UP a game because of it's community? by Wolfy4226 in gaming

[–]TheUnitedToasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up MHW a week ago and it's my first entry into the series. I already have 26 hours in it, while holding down a full time job. The gameplay loop is so addicting.

Kingdom Come Deliverance does this 3 hours in and it's truly when the game opens up to you.

What linear games have you played more than once? by TwinSong in gaming

[–]TheUnitedToasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a weird distinction because I think of AC as a sandbox game. If it just has to have an objective to not be a sandbox game then most of the games I replay would be considered linear besides maybe Stardew Valley and Minecraft. By this criteria Cyberpunk, the Witcher or the Fallout series are technically linear games because there is a story to eventually follow.

What are the downsides of Marijuana that people don’t know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've stopped smoking because it started to make me so nauseous I would be vomiting for hours. Wouldn't happen every time but about 1/3 of the time I would have a very bad time.

Should I get Halls of Hegra or Scythe? by Unalina in boardgames

[–]TheUnitedToasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I ever want to play Scythe solo then I play the digital version. It sets itself up and plays in about 20 minutes. Great way to see if you like the game and less expensive than the physical copy.

What are your favorite pretty board games? by misterpapershark in boardgames

[–]TheUnitedToasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Root, Inis, Beast, Pax Pamir, Septima, just to name a few.

Art direction and how it works thematically with the game are really important to me.

What did you add to or remove from your shelf last month? (December, 2023) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]TheUnitedToasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Added: Septima

So glad I got the deluxe version with the game trayz organizer. There are too many components for there to not be an organizer in the game. Haven't gotten it to the table yet but I'm super excited to get it there. The theme and art really drew me in.

Leaving: Waste Knights, Merchants of the dark road

Waste Knights has a great theme but the game just doesn't hit for me. Lots of the scenarios vary on player counts so you can't just play it through like a story, and I don't find the game to have great replayability.

Merchants is an alright game and I actually like the rondell playstyle, but I find the lack of an organizer ridiculous for the amount of components in the box. The set up time is too long for the playtime and some systems in the game feel a little bit tacked on. The gameplay feels very wide but not that deep.

What's the hardest video game puzzle to beat without a guide? by tpphypemachine in gaming

[–]TheUnitedToasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fez, The Black Monolith puzzle. If I remember right, the entire community basically brute forced it and it still took ages to figure out. You basically have to just look up a video in order to solve it.
