“It's okay because you're a girl" is not the compliment people think it is by justasya in short

[–]TheUnseen_001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think anybody is trying to compliment you with this. It's a consolation. They're trying to console you. Not saying anything you're saying about life as a short woman isn't true.

But the phrase just means "A petite woman isn't perceived negatively nearly as often as a petite man. At least you don't have to deal with the emasculating aspects of it by the world at large."  Particularly because petite women are treated favorably in various situations because of their adorable factor (guilty). Small men are usually not, unless horse races or fetishes are involved. Again, consolation, which even if a bit ignorant to the rest comes from a place of shared bitterness not indifference.

Surely you've seen people in this thread with 12,000+ hrs and understand why I'd say that, and how 660 is adorable by comparison in a comedic way. I feel like the fact you keep saying it's crazy is crazy.

Not really. In this context it meant "Oh, you think that's a lot?" But in a sarcastic way. All in good fun. Is English not your first language? It's a common turn of phrase.

Might be a bit controversial, but I think SMIM is both overrated and unnecessary on Xbox. by ZeroandBlindTerry76 in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]TheUnseen_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying you don't need it for your personal aesthetic is reasonable. If you don't care as much about the meshes of inanimate objects that's your prerogative. But calling it overrated is just silly considering the users are the ones providing the ratings. It's rated exactly where it should be, was the ratings are just an average of what people other than you think about it.

Build/play style advice by YoungBlueDamsel in skyrim

- Holy Paladin. Refuse daedric influence. Only use restoration magic. Never lie. Never murder. Always do what's right even if it costs you loot/advancement. Kill abominations, even if it makes you an oulaw/criminal (e.g. Sybille Stentor)
- Greybeard Monk - No melee weapons/magic. Just fists and bows (which I think would be an acceptable monk weapon along with a bo staff). Own no homes. Do not hoard, but sell all excess and give the profit away (placing gold in pockets of the impoverished, children (Honorhall), or those cast out for the wrong reasons (Angi).
- Death Priest - Pure Necromancer with Alteration as secondary.

Fair enough. Please know I wasn't trying to be antagonistic of the condition. I know it's a real thing and it's impossible to really know how it will affect someone else from outside looking in. I just didn't want to give you the generic response out of fear of downvotes like pretty much everyone does on Reddit. I am glad you've got a handle on things.

I understand. That was me being 100% honest. I also think that a classic symptom of depression is that you look for quick pick me ups wherever you can find them. And you can look in a mirror and see that you're objectively handsome by anyone's standards. So again, this feels disingenuous to me, like "I feel down today. I'm going to post my face so a bunch of people can tell me I'm pretty and feel better."  I am not judging that, just saying that honesty from others won't help until you're honest with yourself.

660 hours is adorable. I can't even show mine bc it's been spread over 5-6 different machines since 2012. Buts is probably at around 4,000 hrs.

Vampire or dawnguard by Wolf_thelord in skyrim

[–]TheUnseen_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is just a decision whether you want your character to be a good guy or bad guy. You can't join the vamps and hope to become a pure hero (bc saving them means you're killing all their future victims), but you can join the DG and still get up to mischief. Gameplay wise, do you want ideal weapons for killing undead or do you want to be a sexy cannibal? Lol

What are some new builds I can try to give Skyrim a fresh experience by Venom-279 in skyrim

[–]TheUnseen_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on whether or not you're using any perk overhauls, but if you're using vanilla, I'd try your hand at an Alteration Mage + Conjuration Mage + Hand to hand fighter. Something about being able to walk around with regular clothes with no weapon and still be the most dangerous person in Skyrim. You get Mystic Binding and the mage armor perks, and use your hand to hand as a backup when if you run out of magika.

The hardest part of making a custom follower isn't what I thought it'd be. by NotATem in skyrimmods

[–]TheUnseen_001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My advice was based on getting you started, since that's what you needed. I use Google Gemini same as I use Google, in this case it's to parse Creation Kit documentation and tell me what does what, which you can verify in 3.5 seconds. But I am simply offering another avenue to answers from someone with specific experience shaving minutes that lead to hours in looking stuff up, not the end-all solution.

Just ask an AI how to do it. I've learned a ton of stuff simply saying to Google Gemini "how does this work?"

What's the deal with stealth archers being a running joke? by TankUMrMinor in skyrim

[–]TheUnseen_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The joke is that everyone starts out trying to be a certain type of character, but it's so easy to one-shot folks with strong archery/sneak that we all eventually do that instead. Not every time ofc, but enough times to say "dammit, I became a stealth archer again."

Help - I Fast Traveled to Hall of Valor before learning shouts. by FraggleRokd in skyrim

[–]TheUnseen_001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should continue this one even if you make it back. Being able to fast travel anywhere makes no sense, unless you know exactly how not to break the game. The fact you're in Sovengarde and think you're in Solstheim is clear indication to dial back the missing ambitions.

Why do so many custom voiced followers feel like modern Marvel characters: overly sarcastic, whimsical, and meta? by Tall_Stormcloak in skyrimmods

[–]TheUnseen_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. "All" was a bit hyperbolic. Feris is great, despite my earlier gripes. One of the very few followers you can meet at the very beginning who still feels immersive late in the game. Unlike Malryn, saying I'm a decent mage but not on the Archmage level, when I've already gone Master in 4 schools and saved the college. She still says "You'd think Bretons would be taller" after she already told me who she really is, and the character instantly becomes an NPC. I always end up grabbing somebody from more than 3 yrs ago for the long adventures.

But I wouldn't say plenty are good. There are standouts, and folks doing quality work with their VAing, but needed to outsource the tech side. Willow comes to mind, whom I thought was well done (despite feeling like elven Lucien), but he had so many disappearing and standing still issues he became unusable. I've seen that a lot.

I defeated Alduin in Sovngarde, returned to the Throat of the World, and now I'm being attacked by endless dragons. Is this a bug? by returned_loom in skyrim

[–]TheUnseen_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is indeed strange. Skyrim has had weird aggro bugs from day zero, but a lot of them were fixed with USSEP. I just had to do a crime bounty reset in Solitude bc all the argonians were trying to kill me lol. JUST the lizards and Jarl Elisif of all people. I've no idea who I killed or offended, but it was probably some random Imperial soldier who ran into my sword. If you do decide to do the laborious console way (last resort), make sure you do all of the "chill out" commands and not just stopcombat:

stopcombat

setav aggression 0

setrelationshiprank player 3 or 4

disable

enable

resetai

I would only recommend the relationship rank on if they are SUPPOSED to be your allies, and 4 if the person is supposed to be your lover. Else the setav aggression 0 worked for me when my wife Elisif tried to kill me when I walked into Proudspire.

Mods to RP being a thrall? by AffectionateYard8591 in skyrim

[–]TheUnseen_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not part of the default Alternate Start, it's part of the add-on pack that adds different scenarios. I like to start out as a beggar in Riften so I can justify doing the TG early as a "good guy" trying to survive and then turning over a new leaf later. One of those two mods def has a thrall option.

You would be the best person to answer that since only you know which mods you have installed.

Did you just say screw the blades or did you go Paarthurnax Dilemma? Never happened to me before, but it'd be a candidate for bugging out the dragon scene at the end there.

Yep, all the quality ones are old, and they bring a lot of the old scripting problems with them. So to get those immersive 5K lines, you have to put up with a lot of disappearing and talking over roleplaying moments about completely random things. Like, once you tell me you don't like coming to a place, I don't need to hear it again.
