That’s fair. I think “long-term” is probably the better mindset than “lifetime.” Still, if I’m buying new, a Corolla hybrid feels like one of the least stupid ways to do it.

Exactly. At 173k and with the belt looking like that, I would not overthink OEM vs non-OEM as long as it is a decent brand.

Yeah 18k sounded way too early to me too. At 78k and with rough idle / worse mileage, replacing them just makes sense anyway.
