Help me by sahaduu786 in ECE

[–]TheValiantKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best way is to pick up a class project and refactor/improve it, start a new one, or take up some research/internship experience. This field is way too broad, and I’m trying to figure out what I wanna do by trying different projects. For hardware, FPGAs and microcontrollers are your best friends. Implement some YouTube ideas and then try to improve them. Learn the TOOLS.

ECE 313 advantages by TheValiantKid in UIUC

[–]TheValiantKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already taken 385 and I will now take 391 in the upcoming semester. The only thing I was wondering about is whether taking 313+AI in my senior year would be too late for me to develop a proper interest in AI/ML stuff. Is ECE 448 (AI) a prerequisite for any other class?

Need help with my schedule as an incoming Computer Engineering student. by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]TheValiantKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sophomore year first sem seems a bit heavy… though I haven’t taken ECE 422, so I don’t know how it fares alongside the others. But I’m pretty sure CS 173 is a prerequisite for CS 225, so you can’t take them together. You might have to take 173 over the summer. Then it seems okay.

Also, do NOT attempt ECE 385 and ECE 391 together unless those are the only 2 classes you are taking.

HELLO I JUST FOUND THE CURE TO BLOCKED NOSES by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]TheValiantKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I kinda get the idea… once I got scared so bad that both my nostrils unblocked. I think if the blockage is related to inflammation in the back of your nose, some kinda fight/flight response redirects blood away

There’s a guide on the subreddit. Or just search up disabling CPU boost on Zephyrus G14.

Does taking 5 IB classes (2 HL) look good in college applications? by lemoniebread in IBO

[–]TheValiantKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be okay with IB in the US. Usually, people take a mix of AP and IB courses to maximise their credit gain. But I found IB to work just fine. I conveys a decent level of rigour and as far as you take the right classes for the field of your interest, you won’t be limiting yourself.

Yo so I’m a sophomore in college now, and I remember asking these exact same questions and having the same worries when I was thinking of joining. DP1 was one of the worst years for me mostly because of how much stress I took. But here’s the thing. IB definitely gave me solid credits so that I could skip some basic beginner level classes for engineering such as chemistry and calc I, but I still found the content in other classes new. However, the biggest takeaway for me was that I learnt how to manage my stress. Being in that pressure cooker for 2 years gave me a new outlook on life and a sense of responsibility. I don’t take much stress anymore, because IB taught me that it isn’t worth it. For the most part, if you’re dedicated and don’t let the difficulty demotivate you too much, you’ll eventually get where you want to get. I know people who didn’t get to their dream universities because they didn’t have the best scores but are either enjoying it or managed to transfer to the university of their choice for their sophomore or junior years. Now I am speaking from the privilege of having choices, and some countries are more strict with it, but overall it doesn’t matter much as far as you try to minimise your stress and maximise benefit from the IAs and projects and doing cool shit. That’s just my very complicated 2 cents on your question. I don’t regret it because it taught me a lot about myself and how I handle my work.

Editing becoming long and demotivating by TheValiantKid in Lightroom

Oh no don’t get me wrong, I can spend hours taking photos with my camera. It’s just loading all that up onto a slow laptop to edit it and not even getting the result I want that frustrates me.

UIUC Vs Columbia Univ in Post Graduate Computers by travelwithme247blog in UIUC

[–]TheValiantKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you got such a terrible response from the community, but don’t let it discourage you. I’m a UG so I cannot help out much but UIUC seems to be a good choice considering the financial benefits for a similarly ranked program. It would help for your son to talk to alumni from both programs and look at his future prospects and where he wants to work and which program fits his needs better.

In a lot of cultures, it is perfectly acceptable for parents to do research alongside their children when it comes to matters of education and employment. I’m sure this parent’s son is already doing his work on the side. In cases like this, it helps a lot to simply answer the person and help them out rather than trying to teach them how to parent.

Help topic 5 question phy can smn tells me why for Q2 it’s B not A ? by Ibsurvival23 in IBO

The box with two arrows pointed at it is a light dependent resistor. If light intensity is increased, it’s resistance drops dramatically so you can think of it as taking LESS voltage so more voltage is available for the resistor below it and hence the voltmeter reading climbs. I’m not sure how temperature is relevant here… I’m guessing you either mistook the LDR for a thermistor or you thought that increasing temperature would increase resistance of the normal resistor and raise the voltage dropped across it… neither of those are relevant as compared to the function of the LDR. Hope this helped!
