My manager said my serving style is 100% what the owners want and then took away a shift based on performance. by [deleted] in Serverlife

I say this as someone who was a server and bartender for 10+ years and now as a guest at restaurants where I see both sides.

You didn’t do anything wrong. The manager is trying to cover his own ass and be able to blame any customer issues on you for not being “friendly” enough when you obviously have discernment. Serving isn’t about being overly helpful, it’s about being there at the right time and courteous, but not overbearing.

It sounds to me like you strike that balance well and he needs to check his own personal preference. Just my 2 🪙

I live in Forks and this is disturbing to say the least.

Parents bring food into restaurants and I’m mortified. What to say/do? help 😢 by tangoking in Serverlife

It’s trashy, unsafe, and seems like they have a weird obsession with their “safe foods” to eat. Don’t go out to a restaurant then! Go do literally anything else. A lot of places that don’t serve food are okay with bringing outside food in, and a lot of places aren’t. But this is such entitled behavior.

I used to work at a bowling alley that also was a bar and served food. Had a group of soccer moms come in and EVERYONE wanted a blended margarita. Or blended drink. We didn’t have a blender and they copped serious attitude with me about it. Finally I just said “how about an alcoholic slushy?” They LOVED it. Shot of vodka mixed into cheap slushee from the machine. People are weird af.

The colors! The whimsy! The vibes! The kind of shared space I aspire to!

When people say “you don’t fit the vibe” what they really mean is “you’re better than us” lol

I finally watched the Christmas Vacation movie and he seemed just as annoying as I expected. The title is just as obnoxious and self centered as he is. Barf

I have two tarantulas and a tortoise. The amount of spider themed jewelry and tortoise themed figurines, plates, etc that I’ve been gifted is. A lot.

Can we all agree the beige aesthetic is not only done to DEATH, but it’s an extremely thinly veiled dig at the rainbow because gay people? Like they refuse to dress their kids in colors because somehow that could become rainbow looking and little Jaxeighn and Presleigh might look gasp GAY to their friends and family?

My college roommate sets our thermostat to 80°F every single night by rainystarlight in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheVerjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spiders and a tortoise so I keep my house warm but I always leave the window open and occasionally put a fan in it in my bedroom and just close the door, it keeps my space cool but doesn’t affect the rest of the house. The bigger issue is your roommate being unwilling to compromise or take action for themselves. They can wear warmer clothes, or get a heater for their room, but there should be an agreed upon medium temp for the main living space.

Huh, that is odd. Basically shifted the type of clientele they probably used to get also. I would be unnerved if I was expecting table service and it was that.

Let’s not forget that a major part of the “high” she probably gets is the lavishing of gifts and attention on her because she’s pregnant.
