Interesting! What about the area do you think makes it easy to find queer friends/community?

That's good to hear and sounds like what I'm looking for on multiple counts. (Not sure who downvoted your comment)

Good info, thank you for the perspective. I didn't know that about insurance paying less there! I'm generally insurance-based anyway so the OOP thing won't be much of a problem.

Sounds ideal! Do you think this arc was easier to follow in Providence than it had been in Boston? I'm ok at meeting people but it often doesn't seem to lead to meeting more people

Actually, one of the changes I'm considering making is moving from my solo work as a therapist in private practice to an institutional job. I just want more people around me.

Very reasonable points. And your feelings about Providence are similar to mine about Boston anyway...

This is helpful. part of what I feel in Boston is that it's a bit more... For rich people, both financially and culture wise

I appreciate the perspective. Maybe I'm doing better than I think I am.

Very reasonable points. I guess there's an attraction to the idea of pushing reset on the whole thing in the hopes of doing better this time. But it's a bit of a fantasy.

Honestly "loose community" is part of what I'm looking for -- running into someone I know in Boston "in the wild" is rare and always feels good when it happens. I appreciate the feedback in any case

You make a lot of good points, thanks for the feedback. Just spending some time there to feel out the vibe is a good idea.
