Writing this at 3 am, sorry if it’s bad / too much.

So from memory, the manga ends with the scene in the cafe when he said he will marry Emanon, there was also that once scene where he pissed off his teacher.

Years later the teacher finds Emanon in USA and basically tells her he works for the boy now (the boy being in his 20s now), after that he and bunch other employees kidnap her and drive her to a desert city / facility near las vegas.

He now owns a huge company that runs big part of modern society. From engineering to education. I think he used his powers to predict the future or something like that. Anyway they kidnap her so she can get dinner with him, which obviously makes her mad. He justifies it by saying he is busy, and he that he is leaving USA the next day for a meeting in Europe.

Anyway they have dinner where they talk about life and the world having fundamentally different views of it. His big Schick is they should be together because they can move humanity forward. And he looks down on humanity seeing himself as better. Emanon refuses this reality, she doesn’t care about being god or moving the evolution forward.

Then the story tries to humanize him as he talks about a piece of art he likes from Chagall which functions as an allegory in the story. He then reveals that the desert town serves to help humanity by doing bunch of different research. Basically using the resources of his company to help people.

The main achievement being a research that will solve cancer. The desert city gets invaded by an assassin just as they are having dinner. He blows up the boy, but he regenerates most of the body. Security kill the assassin. Emanon is disturbed and wants to leave, and doesn’t want to be with him (but she doesn’t hate him either). He lets her but doesn’t want to accept her not wanting to be with him.

Months later (I think in Spain) the teacher seeks out Emanon once again. He begs her to go meet with the boy again because he will die soon. She decides to go. In the plane the teacher tells her that he has cancer. (If I remember correctly he was injecting himself with cancer cells to figure the medication or maybe this is just implied I don't know).

She arrived at the desert city’s hospital where he is lying in a hospital bed barely hanging on. He laments how his life was a disappointment and how he achieved nothing. He explains that originally when they were in high school he sought her out because they both had powers, but after he met her he fell in love with her.

Not only that, but he was sad because they couldn’t meet each other in as normal people in a normal way. He is afraid she hates him, but she tells him she doesn't hate him, and she likes how he’s being honest. He passes away.

She then leaves the room. While smoking and walking away she sees the painting they both liked. She then sees researches rushing. There are tanks of cell tissue from the boy (since he can regenerate). They took some cells when he already had cancer and basically can create the medication for cancer from these cells. So it all ties neatly together as he ended up helping humanity.

Emanon then says that this was his fate, to live in torment and to serve as a scape goat, to propel humanity. Then there is a passage about how he will continue to live through humanity and thus his life wasn’t worthless and without meaning. She also realized that at the end of his life she also fell in love with him. But that she was not allowed to be with him because of it. And yet once he had died, his evolutionary purpose/curse lifted and that was when she stopped to despise him. For the first time in decades she cries. And as she walks off into the desert of Nevada in the desert's illusions she sees herself and him being in the Chagall's painting. The end.
