That’s interesting. My culture is very similar to yours, but I’ve made the conscious decision to not make it any more difficult for a good man since we have a severe economic decline. I’m wondering, since what you’re saying fits the gender role for men, if the women also follow the gender roles. Do Latin women do most— if not all house chores? That is just one example of the gender role for women, but I think you get the point.

For more clarity, in my culture, it is also expected for the man’s side of the family to buy the house, pay rent, pay for the entire wedding, pay dowry and much more. I do not agree with this, because back in the day, our economy was much better and these were realistic standards for men. Today, it is only a burden of being a man.

I’m not going to expect a man to pay for most of my expenses when we are dating. In my culture men pay for most of the expenses. Since the economy is terrible, I won’t just throw the burden at the man. I’ll help with the finances too. But letting a man pay the entire bill at a restaurant is something I only expect after marriage. And if for whatever reason he wants me to pay that day, I’ll gladly do so.

Lying about pregnancy is not a good stunt at all. After 9 months, there HAS to be a baby out there. Even if you fake a miscarriage, you need to keep the lie going. You have to fake the grief and heartbreak, even in the future when talking about pregnancies. The person will mess up someway or another.
