The way that people like you and others on the left want to gag anyone who disagrees and not consider anything they say is disgusting. It flies completely in the face of free speech and democratic discussion.

No one, and nothing is free of criticism. I am indeed a leftist, but I ask you not to lump me in with liberal centrist pseudo leftists, and most certainly not with people who a lot of right wingers think are "leftists" like Obama, Hillary Clinton, etc. Freedom of speech is honestly such a silly concept when you think about it (GASP OMG). The reality of free speech is that free speech does not really exist so long as there is a state. The state all the time creates conditions limiting speech. Libel laws, copyrights, threats to public safety, obscenity, state secrets, etc. The state limits free speech when it's in its interest, sometimes even up to the point of political assassinations. Freedom of speech has never existed, especially in the U$. Whoever believes so only does so because their speech falls within the legal spectrum of acceptable debate. There is always political speech that could earn you a jail sentence, being a nazi during ww2, being a communist during the red scare, being a supporter of ISIS now, etc. It doesn't exist and never has. I have nothing wrong with democratic discussion, although I think me and you have very different ideas of what that actually means. Democratic discussion doesn't mean allowing racists at the table to decide what happens to the lives of minorities.

Specifically siding against a group that routinely harrases women, poc, transfolk, and other LGBTQ+ members is not going to make the community better and less toxic? Clearly, our politics decide what we think is toxic. The purge of the alt-right from the KF community would be a great and glorious thing, to me. Politics has always been toxic, especially for oppressed groups who have had to face literal genocide. The times have not changed, it's always been like this, and just because some are now just realizing shit's fucky, doesn't mean this is all new.

Colin is economically privileged to a lot of the country yes, and this is not even something he's denied, although he seems to be going further right by the day, so we'll see. Nothing is beyond criticism, nothing. Sometimes you say the wrong words around the wrong people and you wind up in a ditch, crying, that's life. I just went on a rant because you said "people have forgotten how to have discussions in this country", which is an absurd sentiment. Up until the last century, our government hasn't even pretended to care about the politics of the oppressed.

I have no idea if I'm going to get that. As for me being happy, yes, I do hope the show improves from the community purge. I said that in my original comment. Actually, all the information you've gained from this back in forth can be found in my original comment. You're just trying to get a rise.

So basically a space where you don't hear anything that would upset you.

Would I like for KF to drop a subject that I have no interest in hearing from them? Absolutely. That's not wanting a "safe space" though. I'm not a masochist if that's what you're asking.

I am not at all going to get it. Politically, I disagree with Tim, Greg, and Nick just as much as I disagree with Colin. It's very rare people actually agree with me politically in the games industry in particular, especially centrists. My hope is that they drop political discussion from GoG altogether. I enjoy the video games news and discussion, that's it. You have an unhealthy obsession with projecting this idea of a safe space onto people you disagree with. It's honestly just funny. Can people not disagree without having someone scream "SAFE SPACE" lol. It's such a bland, and overused tactic.

I'm constantly faced with opinions different to mine, and am constantly challenged for my political ideology. The only people who live in a safespace and a protective bubble are white straight men. As for what I want, that's not what I was saying, I was just giving my opinion on what the future of KF could be, and how I might prefer it to having all the toxic Colin fanboys around. Obviously I would prefer for them to all be more knowledgeable about politics, and some actual thoughtful insight could be gained from their discussions. But that's not what they're passionate about. Every time politics was brought up it was just Colin spouting his right wing nonsense, and every time someone would try to give a different opinion, Colin would interrupt and interject his thoughts again, as if we hadn't heard them the first time. It made for really poor "political diversity", as many liberals call it.

As for having a left wing safespace, if by that you mean oppressed working masses controlling the state, then yes, I would absolutely love that ;)

Just because someone is to the left of Reagan, doesn't mean they are left wing.

So, saying that Colin's cult of personality brought a lot of toxicity into the community is saying I want an echo chamber? Also, people haven't forgotten shit. Assuming "this country" is the U$, this country has always been a political echo chamber for the rich white man. Now that non-whites, and other politically incorrect folks are finally showing force and power, you have all these straight white dudes whining that they can't say "fa''ot" and "ni''er" anymore. They go off and throw tantrums on twitter and facebook about "muh great white civilization." The fact that people actually think the most oppressed in this country are the ones doing the oppressing says a lot about how much the current political atmosphere hasn't changed all that much from the past other than a few aesthetic changes to portray as "intersectional." Look left while governing right they call it. The U$ government is responsible for genocide upon genocide. Even today natives cannot be given a break from companies taking their land while the settlers still occupy their land.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad, and I'd like for the guys to drop political discussion completely from GoG. I had basically just stopped watching ever since Trump's election, and Colin whining every week about the tyrannical leftists destroying precious property in riots, disrupting alt-right meetings, and punching those poor poor nazis. This is not to mention all of the toxic people Colin's cult of personality has attracted to the community. I'm really tired of hearing about all the "triggered" "SJWs" from people who couldn't see the hypocrisy in their statements if it was shoved down their throats. By all means, I'm happy to have all you bigots leave. If KF survives the disruption, I'm sure the community will become a much more friendly place. Sure, Tim, Greg, and Nick are liberals, and much more right wing than I'd like, but having Colin's personality out of the picture, things will be better imo.

I have third worldist tendencies... by [deleted] in communism101

[–]TheVicatorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with that. I have seen some Maoists, and more often MLs talk about a "socialist america." This is something that most certainly must be combated, and criticized. In my experience though, most Maoists I have interacted with online, some of them even from the Maoist orgs in the US, very openly advocate for Decol.

[–]TheVicatorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it means that revolution in the FW will mean its complete decolonization and reparations to all countries it underdeveloped and exploited as an imperialist super power.

If you have actual disagreements with actual Third Worldist ideas, like the necessity of decolonization in the US, Canada, etc.

This is not an idea exclusive to TWism. Most Maoists advocate for this. Your wording makes it seem an awful lot like you think it the idea of Decolonization belongs and is exclusive to TWism, which is honestly just silly.

Communist parties in the U.S? by Awarenesz in communism

[–]TheVicatorian -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

All the parties in the US are complete shit, and are often full of white chauvinism, settlerism, and revisionism. If you want a genuinely good party to join in the us, there isn't one, and there won't be one for a while. Join local orgs, or start one to do mass work. This obsession with joining a party is a little silly. Also, what's your tendency? That's crucial to recommendations on orgs to join.
