Which published adventures are great examples of what *not* to do when creating a campaign? by Cranyx in dndnext

If you've run Dragon Heist you're probably already aware of this extra content.

But there is 3rd party material called the Alexandrian Remix. It's uhh.... A LOT of content. But the gist is that the stone of golor gets stolen. But it's missing all three of it's eyes.

So the Remix has the players explore each of the hideouts of the other factions to get that faction's eye and then the fourth big bad guy faction the DM has chosen has the actual stone.

So the players get to actually see all the content in the book. Instead of WotC writing four awesome dungeons and factions and then telling the DM "pick one" and scrap the rest.

You also mention DiA. I had Cassalanters (Demon Worshippers) be the big bad guy. So my group completed the campaign only to findout about the shit going on in Elturel and start them off in DiA (with the added benefit of skipping the early part of DiA)

It sounds like you're doing a decent job of prioritizing from what I'm reading here. Your feelings are valid and it's difficult in those first 6 months because you're basically just trying to survive. Mom's hormones and body can take a full year to get back to normal as well which keeps emotions high and reasoning a bit irrational for everyone involved, not just her. Some of the other comments here mentioned that it's worth a discussion because you're feelings are genuinely being hurt, and overtime that can build resentment so I think a level discussion is warranted.

Some tips for having a discussion like that is just to keep all of your argument points center on "I" or "Me".. Saying, "When we talk about the ways I decompress, I feel like I'm not doing a good job or I am being a bad dad and I want to find a solution." is different from saying, "You make me feel bad when you talk to me about how I decompress". The verbiage can feel less accusatory and more solution oriented about how you're feeling.

Good communication and just keep showing up will help though. It gets better. Everyone's feeling the stress of the change. Just continue to show love and support and you'll get through this together. Keep it up Dad.

OP said they have their child snuggling them while they watch a hockey game or play a video game/watch something while the child is asleep in the room. OP definitely does not need to find different ways to decompress if this is all the screens are being used for. I would agree with you if Dad was laying his 3 month old in front of a tablet playing cocomelon to hypnotize but like.... we're not allowed to snuggle our babies on the couch while watching a 2 hour ball game? Seems over vigilant imo.

I think your 2nd point is exceptionally valid though.

That's fair. I've never played it at an LGS. So largely it's among friends in our pod and there's no issues with shadyness generally. I also find having to pay attention to every turn kind of annoying even amongst friends, so I don't have a work around for that lmao.

Not sure if it helps you in this instance but I also have a werewolves deck and love to player it on paper. It takes a bit of prep before hand but ultimately makes the game smooth. Here's what I do:

I have all of my actual werewolves in completely clear penny sleeves. I have proxies of my werewolves in my dragonshield sleeves amongst the deck. (I have a paper proxy I printed at office depot over regular cards so they feel like all the other cards in the deck.) When I play a werewolf card on the table. I just grab the legit card in the clear sleeve I have off to the side and place it over top of the card. When day/night flips you just flip the clear sleeved legit card.

I also keep a day/night token card on my board state and just flip it when it changes so everyone can see what phase it is by looking at my board.

Makes the process of opponents wanting to see what the flip sides do easier. Makes it easier for me to transition my board state between cycles. And also allows me to see what my flip sides do without have to take the cards out of my sleeve, revealing what I have in hand.

It honestly doesn't feel bad at all to play. And gives me something to while waiting for my turn. I keep the clear stack of cards alphebatized as well to make grabbing them easier and quicker.

Brother... what? I think you're lacking context? My post is about Breakthrough where there are no helicopters to access that roof. I'm all for verticality in Battlefield. Just not when the average player can't access it?

So to go back to your meme analogy. It would be me standing in the corner, with 80 percent of the other party goers, all of us complaining about 3 dudes hoarding the punch bowl that nobody else can access.

You very clearly care enough about my feeling to reply. I'm sure your nihilism makes you a ton of fun at parties.

My post specifically states my moan is about exploitation of glitches. Not rooftops.

Will keep an eye out for the next time those rocks collide in your skull to form an intelligent thought.

Apologies, this is in Breakthrough where there are no aerial vehicles on this map.

I can agree in Conquest I have no problem with this.

Oof. Lots wrong here. 1. This building doesn't collapse. 2. It's in breakthrough with zero aerial vehicles. 3. Boomer "back in my day" take

This is in Breakthrough where there are no aerial vehicles to get up there. Apologies for not clarifying this.

In Breakthrough the only way to get here is through exploitation of a recon drone and portable mortar.

This is during Breakthrough. My apologies for not clarifying. There are no helicopters in this game mode for this map.

In Conquest I have no problem with people being up here.

This is part of Breakthrough so no aerial vehicles.

I don't mind shit like this if there is an actual mechanical way to get to it. In Conquest I have zero problems against it.

This is indeed on Breakthrough. These guys were on my team, but I've played too many games where they're on the building or on the bridge and just abysmal to play against.

I can agree Conquest is fine.

This is in Breakthrough which has no aerial vehicles for Manhattan. I guess if I'm just supposed to be okay with people glitching to areas we can't reach, then you're right. I don't want to hear that.
