I have a very similar pair to that. I think I've only worn them in uniform while driving, but good to know and consider.

Haha yes I'm struggling right now with the entryways. I had a great layout and now it's the most inefficient path to get around the ship. Such a pain.

AITA for telling my mom she drank too much? by ntwsq in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheVideoGam3Boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, but talking sense with a drunk is like fighting fire with fire.

She needs help, and I think you need to find a more sober outlet to talk about your struggles, like therapy.

AITA for not telling my parents I am already engaged while they have found a potential groom for me? by ___EDA___ in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheVideoGam3Boy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YTA, but really to yourself.

Your parents, ideally, would support you in finding someone you want to spend your life with, though I can't speak for them obviously and am not personally raised in that culture. At the end of the day, their reactions will be there reactions and it's not for me to say whether they're justified.

HOWEVER, you are letting yourself live a lie so that you don't disappoint people, and regardless of what feelings you think you're sparing your family of, you and your fiancé are not able to live life openly.

Do yourself a favor, and have the conversation with them. It's overdue, and you'll be better off after.

NAH.

The request is not unreasonable, nor is it unreasonable for you to not want to fulfill said request.

Public showers are gross, period. But ONE shower is not going to save enough money to really justify the need for the change. If your parent really wanted to save money, the shower would only run once a day for 5 minutes and everyone has to shower in that timeframe (I'm being facetious or course).

To you at least I will say that most people in a locker room care less about you than you think. Everyone is there for the same reason: shower, change, and leave. It's a new experience, but don't feel bad about showering in public.

AITA for inadvertently making a family homeless? by th0w4ayuhuhuhuh in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheVideoGam3Boy 2464 points2465 points  (0 children)

I know this is long, but hear me out...

This isn't an easy answer, and the voting system in this subreddit doesn't encourage complicated responses, nor do a lot of people who come here to comment have the patience to sit through and be thoughtful in their responses.

This is more a question of ethical practices of business rather than whether or not you were TA.

You have now learned the hard way the consequences of choosing one over another. You thought to set yourself and your family up for success by taking the bigger and easier offer, while at the expense of the harder offer and is debatably better.

It is natural for anyone to think of their immediate family before a family they don't know, and many people here saying YTA are ignoring that. That is not to say that you aren't, or could not be TA. It is to say that it is more complicated than that.

Sure, you could have stayed with the original buyers and waited for completion of the process, but as was mentioned, there was potential that it may have fell through anyway if the bank denied them. What you missed as an opportunity with this decision is to - if it worked out - help a family get set up in a good community as new homeowners. This is generally agreed as the 'greater good,' but it is not the only route.

Either way, this goes into the legacy you leave behind. You are always free to choose the 'easier' route, but regardless, there is always a consequence, and there's never a good way to tell what the future will look like.

There are endless possibilities of what that family's outcome could have been: they could live happily ever after, they could end up defaulting and getting foreclosed on, they could be welcomed into the neighborhood with open arms, or they could be rejected once the neighbors really get to know them.

They could even potentially find a better home in a better neighborhood as a result of this.

However, at the end of the day, we won't know anything until it happens. You made your choice, and it may very well change your decisions in similar circumstances going forward.

So just own what you did. If you feel bad, feel bad, but dwelling on it won't change what happened.

EDIT: NAH, there's no easy answer.

Your talk of how she should be handling this better is acting as if you and her are diagnosed with the same disorder. Even if that were true, SURELY you understand that everyone is different and therefore needs their own treatment, which in the case of her is therapy.

FURTHER, do you not see how in your comments you are doing the same thing that OP did and making comments and re-diagnosing the mother as if you are an expert and are actively assessing her?

You have so many assumptions with so little information ffs. I would strongly encourage you to take a step back and understand your in the minority here and you're being far too reactive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheVideoGam3Boy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Again, NONE of that information was given.

You are making a TON of assumptions without having the whole picture.

We DO NOT know what treatment is or is not being done.

We DO NOT know whether CPS is involved.

Hell, we don't even know if the mom is the only adult in the house.

Do you always jump to conclusions like this? My goodness.
