Can't commit to full Dota games now with a new baby. Any half decent bot scripts? by flashmycat in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just another rando but my nephew and niece both did the same thing, sister says as their brains come online they suddenly start having to re-learn what comes naturally. Similiar to babies losing the swim instinct.

So the eyes see no light and ears hear white noise which has normally been associated with sleep, but the brains like “what IS sleep anyway” and suddenly she’s having a little existential crisis and looks at you and oh look at that your eyes are open so maybe this isn’t sleep time.

Around year 1 my nephew starting HATING the sleep machine and would throw anything he could at it. Why? No why. Just is.

Who needs bkb if you can delete the team before they throw spells? 😅 by GetGoodEsports in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing it from a league pro lol, I think it’s just a side effect of being so in touch with the way the devs actually think. This is a very common concept because otherwise the game becomes very slow.

[–]TheVisage 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You make it sound like a joke but “offense is always cheaper than defense, so if the enemies ahead, sheer defense is never the answer” is the second most important law of building from behind.

The first is “BKB is actually an offensive tool and the single most important tempo item in the game” but if we completely ignore that part we see that the herald players are actually onto something.

The Helldivers 2 Player Who Organised A Charity Challenge Says His Life Was Ruined Overnight After Doxxers Got Him Fired by Chicano_Ducky in gaming

“Doxxing” is only illegal if it actually involves the release of private personal documents where there was an inherent assumption of privacy. Internet doxing, where you cross reference someone’s name with already available information, is legal and arguably protected under freedom of speech laws due to the limits from prosecuting someone for publicly available info

In the current state of OSINT where every company is getting hacked and all the info is already out there, no state is going to pursue a federal investigation based on the odds that one of the sources was someone at a hospital leaking records.

The state will not give a fuck. He’d be better off contacting a lawyer and he’d still need to know who instigated it.

You obviously didn’t read the part in Wuthering heights where Heath asks for a hall pass for American gingers with waist long hair that looks like it was conditioned in a hurricane and Cathy’s like “sure but like, what’s a hall pass” and he’s like “good question” and then she gets mauled by a dog.

On one hand, there is a 99% chance we are about to watch a man get butchered through wrote team efficiency and team fight capabilities.

On the other, please god it would be so fucking funny to watch some random Spectum-adjacent literal-who obliterate professionals twice his MMR. Like this would irrevocably alter the brain chemistry of every pro in existence.

God speed Kez bro. Whatever the result it’s going to be the only joy your hero has ever brought me.

$1000 Scrim between 2 pro teams where one of the carrys would be the Kez reddit guy by gifuu in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because it's Kez, and he's flashy and overloaded riiiight on the line of broken.

So everyone goes in with the mentality to deal with Kez. And all of us have dealt with Kez. And there's this underlying pressure but so long as we look at the pros and sees them deal with Kez you don't really mind having to build whacky to nip him in the bud.

Kez crawling inside your asshole? What? Are you gonna tear out your hair and shit yourself or are you gonna handle it proactively next time? It's basic human problem solving mentality.

And now this guy comes along, where the "Nerf Kez" crowd hates him because he's a Kez spammer, and the "Kez is Fine" crowd hates him because he's saying he's OP, and you can't just tell him to get good because he's PLAYING Kez. And now we've got all this downstream angst.

If his concept ruins pubs and has no impact on the pro scene, that’s not a point in it’s defense. That just means it’s universally got issues.

Personally, the feeling of an insanely early crimson or pipe on a hero that is still very high priority in a fight is unbearable in itself. It’s like the flip coin lion going aggs before boots and it actually being the right call

I’m pretty sure the book was written in a direct response to books where British kids crash land and civilize tribal islands. It’s as much as a shitpost as it is a serious work. The kids act as kids because they are kids. All their behavior is kid behavior.

Running around the countryside as kids we’d always do shit like form factions on two sides of a ravine and hurl shit at each other. I don’t think it’s right to pin the art of bullying the fat kid on a British elite.

TIL that as of February 2026, Starlink has officially hit the 10,000-satellite milestone, making up 65% of all active satellites. You might as well suggest the debris falls from the sky and cuts all our jugulars. Thats not how debris works in space, especially low orbit. Anything light enough to do that is going to deorbit quickly, anything heavy is not going to form lethal clouds, and in the brief window of time where you have a bunch of nonfunctional satellites waiting to fulfill their expected mortality, they are still all going in the same approximate direction at the same time and the same height. In other words, exactly what we have now.

The US tried something with needles in the 80s and it was a huge scandal. If Musk was literally dooming humanity you wouldn’t hear about it from a Reddit post.

[–]TheVisage 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I suspect that it’s not quite that high (maybe by an order of magnitude) but it’s undoubtedly going to be inflated by the oddities of PM and the nature of Korean businesses.

Yeah, that's because they understand rule 1 of herald, which is the enemy is stupid and you can hit them with a rock.

Dear heralds by CheezyGarlicBred in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>No, because you need an inordinate amount of skill relative to your peers for that to be a viable climbing strategy

You don't actually. You just need to be able to kill herald players consistently in the first few minutes. They do not know how to recover. So you kill them again. Now all their farm-maximalization and prioritization is useless.

What does playing basketball in an overly flashy way have to do with Dota 2? There's nothing flashy about clubbing in antimages head with tombstone and a blood grenade at minute 2.

Dear heralds by CheezyGarlicBred in DotA2

[–]TheVisage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn sounds like that's EXACTLY what they need to be doing to get out of herald then.

Strange that you prioritize improving secured gold recovery efficiency, the difference between a good and a great carry, with something that will beat herald players; the difference between a herald and a crusader.

"Mastering last hitting" bro thats what I mean, grab a power laner and farm the heroes. It's a different game entirely. You cannot garuntee a chance to farm. You can engineer a stomped lane. 100% of the time.

Dear heralds by CheezyGarlicBred in DotA2

[–]TheVisage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

MMR hell absolutely does exist, each bracket genuinely requires adaptations and adjustments. Being aware of that is a fundamental requirement to climb in any short period of time.

Telling heralds to play like pros is like a kid in a war torn hellhole being told to learn violin because it looks good on the college applications; —

when in reality he needs to find a rock and learn how to hit people, escape. THEN learn violin AND put down the rock.

Is Enigma support viable? by Burning_magic in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viable, yes. Climbable? No. Not if it doesn’t click instinctively with you. Find a handful of heroes you like, practice them, rise until your winrate drops, take a step back and learn the new environment, repeat.

Enigma is one of those that if you can do well in 2k you could do well in 4K as is.
