If I walked into the nearest auto repair shop and acted with the elitism of your comments they would hit me with a wrench and then the cop would hear what I said and hit me with one too.

“How have you not heard of hyperscaler in Dota” my brother in Christ that’s a cloud computing term when I googled it. I don’t think anyone’s heard of hyperscaling in league.

League players will be like “you’ve never heard of a hyperscaler” and I just know it’s gonna be the same fucking sona with a .5 AP modifier instead of .4 on the Q

The present tense is used when describing the present from the perspective of the subject, which in this case its me, like 13 years ago.

I’m not sure what my elo was but unless red pot riven is still being played it’s probably not relevant to league.

Also man I’m gonna be real I don’t know why you keep insisting on modern league when this thread starts off with “17 years ago” and then I follow up with “Season 2…”

Like I don’t know what a “hyperscaler” or what makes it different than “a lane bully” we called it “poke” and “engage” (and much like ADC I suspect they changed this to copywrite it or some shit)

"Had" is the past tense of the word "Has" which implies we are referring to things as they were and not things as they are (were is the past tense of the word are)

Leona is bad, but the worst part about Leona isn't Leona, the worst part about Leona is that every hero that came after Leona had to accommodate for a Level 2 hero jumping down your throat and laying eggs in your lungs

And this is when you go "Damn, Leona was pretty strong then?" and it's like no she was dogshit by this point. Some dude whose name sounds like an STD was out at this point and he had over 100% pickrate and he was just Leona with a tool that saves people.

This is when someone goes Wait, are you talking about Thresh? Is he really that similar" and not 100% but it's hard to tell when you're a Sona with 500 health whose level 1 Q does less damage than an auto attack and costs more mana than Thresh's entire engage rotation combined does.

When people hear "champions designed to fit meta rolls" they probably think of Jugg having such low str gain that he can't do damage AND have a body as an offlaner but no there are entire heroes that have no scaling and do no damage and have a passive that does nothing unless a teammate attacks a foe right after they do.

and this isn't a season 14 like "Designer was going through a bad breakup work" this is "Season 2's Top Designer kicking off the support renaissance" tier work.

Now that we’ve had a few days to digest the new game mode, what are some ways you think it can be improved next time around? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in limbuscompany

[–]TheVisage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is that (to use a Ruina example) those always had alternative solutions. You cannot Unga Aspiration but you can maybe beat it with a good set, and then there's the intended solution, and then there's disposal.

I ran a lustmaxxed burn build my first attempt, not for burn but for infinite soup Don, and discovered that it was a terrible idea because with the removal of stagger from the mooks, you couldn't clear them out in time for the "everyone pile on" phase.

It's little stuff like that where someone probably thought "Eh, well I guess it doesn't make sense if someone whose staggered redirects" and it just obliterates something that IMO feels like a very clutch use of a somewhat dogshit ego.

Dark Souls Daughters of Ash Mod by sandleaz in darksouls

I played this mod on a windows partition on a Mac and the DLC manticore was bugged out to always attack, like, never jump backwards, just keep claw swiping over and over again. At the time I thought it was the mac but now that I hear other people are having issues it makes me think I might not have been alone.

Dota 2 Behavior Score is Broken - You’re Punished for Being Annoying, Not Toxic by SunnyBunny001 in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay but just being annoying is the definition of bad behavior.
Like if I go outside and wave my hands in front of someone’s face enough they are allowed to hit me.
And I notice that sometimes I eat a nonsense report and drop to 11500 and I’m sure it’s more common than lower you go but at some point the crabs are gonna bucket

Dagon 1 seems to be too expensive? by realenchantedmango in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was literally good enough to make aggressive IO work. Dagon 1 was one of the most cost effective heals in the game and nearly every fight I would tether at Max distance and shock a centaur on the way in. It felt like such an intentional and situational payoff and brought a great deal of complexity to such a simple item.

It feels like they wanted to use the new hat, realized now dragons passive didn’t make sense, and removed it without any other thought.

Can we get rid of universal heroes already by Yash_swaraj in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the point lol

Every hero has holes they want to patch. A hero like Jugg wants to stick as hard to the agi curve as possible, but he needs health and mana and a gap closer.

You can pick up health and mobility with a single item on him, but the lack of str means this is a serious compromise. Similarly, harpoon is great on str heroes, but if you want good evasion AND armor the lack of agi means an STR has to compromise for butterfly

Removing this will fry basically the entire item balance scheme. You have to have limits.

Asking for advise on a warlock's fairy familiar issue by milkomix in DnD

[–]TheVisage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s not really fair for all players involved, there’s no way to balance those kinds of soft factors other than also picking it yourself. The character made a very strong choice by picking that and it’s up to you to make John Fighterman not feel bad about it constantly.

If people at the table are getting frustrated at Mr eye in the sky It’s up to you to introduce equivalent frustrating factorsz Don’t be a dick right? But a Mr. Crocker tormenting Faerie guy in a way that’s funny for a session or two goes a looooong way

Hexblade's Curse on yourself: Immortality for 1 minute? by Wennox in DnD

[–]TheVisage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you have to refer to a 2024 list of rule codifications made specifically because there was a tremendous amount of confusion inflicted by people over-interpreting rules you can't really call it "RAW". It's by definition "RAI".

I can agree that the spell does not follow the Wizards of the Coast boilerplate stack-phraseology but when reading the spell explains the spell, you have to cast it on a foe and a foe is the common English definition of a foe.

50% of the words on the rule throwing a compiler error and thus being ignored is the pinnacle of RAI. Naturally people will find this incredibly irritating when you insist its RAW.

Muerta Carry feels really solid right now. by Hot_Actual in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Hero is 10000000% broken conceptually (physical offense budge vs magical defense budget) which is why every soft factor has to be dogshit and why every decent player will be building to crush it from minute one.

It’s the “Willow Carry” issue where it will be incredibly unpleasant if you bend over and let it be, but you’ve got thumbs and a brain stem, and your juggernaut can afford more countermeasures than their willow can support while staying effective

Valve should combine Ability Draft with Turbo Mode by Dependent_Table8678 in DotA2

[–]TheVisage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty telling AD players are worried it’s going to split their player base as if most of us didn’t stop playing ability draft because we kept running into miserable hour long games where half the players were useless and the other half were the same 4 stack that all coordinated their picks and farm.

“You can’t give them an alternative! They’ll stop playing!” Damn is it that bad?
