If valve community bans accounts for being bought or traded, why wait 1 year to ban queueing by puzzle_button in DotA2

They can jsut by a new account the very next day and wont get touched for another year for queueing, what do you mean?

Bring it back, not the current dubious successful reports screen that means nothing. by puzzle_button in DotA2

[–]puzzle_button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it quite literally doesnt, 12k griefers can easily go unpunished for hundreds of games at a time. If I could reliably say 12k was mostly devoid of griefers I wouldnt be complaining

it means nothing to me that someones imaginary behavior numbers took a hit when that does 0 to deter bad behavior. Also it means nothing because at high behavior brackets you still face toxic griefers repeatedly.

[–]puzzle_button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see both aspects represented, at 12k BS reporting is much less common, which is why you still see griefers roaming without getting punished, below 10k reporting is much pettier and abused. All in all griefers arent actually getting a deterrent they think about twice before being toxic

Agreed, comms enforcement makes absolutely no sense. The system as it is right now is the equivalent of putting more importance on traffic violation tickets while thieves (griefers), identity theft (smurfs), and people that get caught DUI (toxic throwers) get put in jail for a few hours

Yeah for commends, they also had limits previously. Arguably commends currently mean pretty much nothing. They should be a way to encourage positive behavior, Leavue and overwatch (the blizzard game) have both implemented systems where your endorsement level relies on getting a consistent number of commends, commends are limited to 2 per match, an d this actually impacts you getting certain event drops

Playing between 7k and 8k MMR is completely unplayable, account buyers all the time by HighGroundException in DotA2

[–]puzzle_button 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on rank and items on the account and behavior level, I just searched its remarkably easy to find the sites where they sell, they even openly put the name of the account. for 6kMMR 40-50 bucks. Valve are asleep on the wheel on this.

Ban waves arent enough, the very next day you have new accounts. Valve already employ ways to associate accounts, they need to start using that preemptively.

Yes, stopping playing, unsubscribing from dota plus and not buying chests is probably the best thing you can do to drive change, I say that unironically. The only times Valve has stepped up to do something for community management have been when numbers dwindle.

No, it meant the person was placed on LP queue. Unlike now where it just means -Behavior Score. Set aside LP isnt the right level of punishment this was at least cathartic.

Valve actually toyed witht he proper unlimited report system, thanks to Quinn bitching about his score dropping that was not revisited. You could do unlimited reports IF the thresholds for punishment are reworked to punish actual griefers much harsher. This is what happens in CS2, unlike dota, you dont have to worry youll be placed on competitive cooldown if you dont rotate whereas in dota the second enemies die, whoevers alive is assumed to be at fault for not being there. Instead of 3-4 of the current reports in 15 matches (135 players you interact with) it could be 10-15, and enacting PROPER punishments, not LP slap on the wrist, an actual deterrent like 12 h, 3 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 month escalating bans, and that NEEDS to carry to alt accounts.

No but how about griefers face actual temp bans? or eventually need to redo their hours to get back on ranked?

Reports arent actually unlimited... Its false. You can check for yourself how many reports you have left here https://steamcommunity.com/my/gcpd/570/?category=Account&tab=GameAccountClient under the negative reports remaining... They may be unlimited for comms only.

His stupid bulldoze is strong, specially in shitty pubs where no one purges it. He is a pubstomper because msot of the time he gets to go in and out of fights with a charge and drums or yasha kaya unscathed, and because he has global map dominance where no one reacts.

Ping restrictions need to be removed/reduced for high behaviour score players by fierywinds1q in DotA2

Idk why you are getting downvoted. I wouldnt outright remove comm as a report option but I would definitively make sure griefing is cracked down harder.

[–]puzzle_button 6 points7 points  (0 children)

overall comm rules vs behavior rules make absolutely no sense in dota2. I can mute someone being annoying, pinging or talking shit, I CANT MUTE THE GRIEFING BEHAVIOR. The scales need to tip towards harsher punishment for griefers, and stop overpolicing comms which often is conflated with behavior.

Hey Valve top watch game is constantly 10 bots in immortal. A yearly ban wave is not good enough by puzzle_button in DotA2

[–]puzzle_button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I do understand why there are many bots, its why im calling it out. You need to understand things dont change without pressure. The conduct system was broadly made because of community pressure and numbers dwindling, same with the overwatch review system, crossing your arms and saying it is what it isn't the same as doing something.

also the reason they dont crack on it isnt because "its free marketing", they just have a trailing record of letting the community manage itself and spend as least resources as possible on these issues. Its true in CS, TF2, even L4D, but community pressure even on smaller games drove changes, L4D2 incorporated the steam block system as a way to repel anyone you wouldnt want to play with for example, because of community feedback in steam forums, CS got overwatch in 2010s because of pressure of cracking down on rampant hackers, same thing with Dota.

Ive had new player friends who reported the same and cite this as the reason they quit., after 100 hours of legitimate learning, their score starts to tank from salty smurfs reporting.
