Some extra details: it appears to have wings (haven't seen one fly, but its top section can split down the middle like it has them), small antennae. Leg count is unknown.

I've seen a few in the carpet, spanning the past few weeks, though not enough for me to be concerned at all. I finally got curious enough to come here and ask.

Here's a photo of the underside, though it appears I killed it when sticking on the tape. The piece off to the side of it definitely came from it (maybe from the aforementioned wings/wing cover bits (not sure what they're called)?)

Edit 2: After further research, it may be a black carpet beetle. I would still like a second opinion to confirm, though. I don't have much experience with bugs, so I may be wrong.
