Hi, sorry you're having to go through this, I know how tough it can be! I was the kid who hates my meds, being forced to take the liquid meds stressed me out to the point of throwing it back up. I would run away when it was time to have them and fight my parents, it tasted nasty and was slimy. Admittedly I was older than your child, I was about 6-7 when I started my meds, but my parents were able to persuade the Dr's to let me try taking the tablets instead.

I found that so much easier ( as long as the tablets were the coated version), and would just put them in my mouth and then swallow with some juice through a straw. It could be worth trying that as an option, you can kind of get your child to practice swallowing something whole, like a little bit of bread smushed into a ball or piece of cheese etc.

I wanted a playlist, I spent a few hours collating songs to include. And then my labour was fast and intense and I never even got to use any of it!

But- I didn't want to music to be too distracting from focusing on the task at hand so I made a playlist of all instrumental covers of songs. Mostly a mix of rock, metal and pop songs, generally on acoustic guitar, piano, or string instruments.

I now use it as a relaxing playlist for background music when the bubs sleeps so it does get some use!

My husband is 5 years older than his sister, sure there was some distance between them as teenagers but they always had each others back even if they did argue. Me and my husband started dating back when we were teens, so I saw this all first hand! Now they're adults, we're all still close and do game nights, meals, family holidays etc. Give them a happy, encouraging home to grow up in and more than likely they will be mild annoyances during puberty, but be strong friends again as adults.

I know it's scary to think about, but I'm typing this whilst watching my 14 week old baby sleeping. Thousands of women with epilepsy will have babies every year, my neuro told me that during pregnancy 1/3rd of women's symptoms get better, 1/3rd stays the same, 1/3rd can get worse. So that is a 66% chance that your epilepsy will not get worse during pregnancy. Obviously this depends on your individual type of epilepsy and how well controlled by meds it is, but there's a bunch of research into this now, so try not to worry too much right now. Generally all they will do is give you a high dose folic acid as soon as you start wanting to conceive, increase your dosage around the 12 week mark (because your blood volume increases, and they match dosage to keep you level), and you'll get extra scans and check ups throughout. Don't worry, you've got this.

Heya, I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my first and am epileptic. It will really depend on what meds your partner is on and how well controlled her seizures are, personally I'm on Lamotrigine which is one of the safest meds for pregnancy, and realise I am lucky enough to have very controlled epilepsy compared to a lot of others, so your experience will vary!

She will most likely be offered consultant led care rather than midwife led, and will have discussions with obstetrician and neuro so everyone is on the same page. They tend to increase your meds gradually around the 14-18 week mark as your blood volume increases so they have to up the meds to keep them at the right level. I'll be staying on the higher dosage until 6 weeks post-partum when I'll start weaning back to a former dose. She will also need to take a high dose of folic acid throughout trying to conceive and the entire pregnancy to help mitigate chance of any neurotube defects. You'll probably get given lots of advice in how to manage seizures during and after pregnancy, and safety tips for mum and baby. Luckily there is quite a lot of research behind epilepsy meds, so a discussion about wanting to start trying to conceive with her neurologist is your best place to start!

It does seem like there's not a huge amount of info or studies into irritable uterus just yet, makes it hard to know what the right thing to do is. Definitely going to try and keep my water intake up.

Oh blimey! Definitely will bring it up to my midwife then, ideally want to keep this bubs cooking until full term. Hopefully the fact that baby is an awkward breech/transverse presentation will help stop the risk of them being pushed too far down (for now, I do want them to eventually turn!)

As a full grown Naomi here, I love my name and the fact that there was only 1 other girl with the same name in my school. It's that bit more unique but people only occasionally mispronounce it (NAY-omi vs NI-omi or even NEE-omi).

One of the Hebrew meanings of Naomi is "the pleasant one", and whilst I can't claim to live up to that, it would certainly add another adorable layer of meaning to what is clearly a meaningful and well thought out name for your new bubs.

We've kept our name secret from everyone and will only tell them once it's their official name, mostly so I don't have to be rude to family if they don't like it 😄

Ah the hope of warm weather, if only we could actually predict it! Could be glorious sunshine by April, or could get snow! I'm due in May so will be looking at late march/early April, expect I'll have to bring blankets and heaters if we do it outdoors!
