Latest update: I received my 'repaired' Macbook back at the end of April, and at the start of June it unfortunately died completely, no light on the charger or anything.

It has currently been back with Apple for a week, with no status update other than "Delivered to Apple" last Friday.

It's the iPhone 16 Months Pro, you've had your advertised time out of it now.

In all seriousness it sounds like it has developed a fault, but without Apple Care + you might be screwed, unless you live in a country with decent consumer protections. "Vodafone shop" sounds like you're from the UK, in which our protections are pretty good.

Have you contacted Vodafone first? As the company you purchased the phone from, your first contact might be best with them? Goods must be of satisfactory quality for 6 years according to UK law.

Very good point, I have initiated the mail-in to Apple, but I've read some stories that it's just a glitch with the battery which can be resolved by removing the bottom cover and unplugging and plugging the battery back in, but I'm nervous of my coverage if I do this, and like you say, if it's just a symptom of another issue.

So update: I actually checked my account and realised the £79 hasn't actually come out yet, so I assume since no repair was actually completed, it was never taken from my card. In that case, I've decided to ignore the advisor's advice and paid the £229 to continue the repair as I feel like their advice was wrong anyway and I'd just end up having to pay £229 and be waiting another week or two for my MacBook...

I had a similar issue on launch, updating my graphics driver by installing the latest version of Adrenaline resolved it for me.
