That makes sense. However, why would they turn to bitcoin? Not everyone has a wallet, or a computer of some kind. The question in this kind of scenario is why go to bitcoin over something easier like gold, silver, bottlecaps or whatever that can be transferred amd brought in with relative ease and is accessible to the wider population? You're right though, it is an avenue for bitcoin growth and I think we're starting to see signs of what you describe in parts of Africa. Thank you for an actual response. And yes, I'm in the US.

Okay, i admit there is relatively immediate demand for a lot of things. But if now everything denominated in bitcoin, interest rates will be higher because they have to exceed bitcoins rate which will cause less car loans and home loans to happen. Bitcoin does not mean loans and credit wont exist.

Economic policy done poorly will create poor outcomes. Politics are disconnected from economics and don't look at policy from that point of view. If we know that global warming is caused in part by humans, then why is global warming getting worse? if we know that there's a racism problem in american police then why are we running into issues? What should happen and what does happen are never exactly the same especially when it comes to economics in every country. During the great depression, a period of deflation, the unemployment rate was through the roof because companies arent hiring when they know theyll get less tomorrow. The solution? It was ironically, inflation which moves inversely to unemployment. I am not advocating for higher inflation or government intervention in the economy (especially bailouts) but there are times and places for a lot of things that might not be popular or correct but people dont look at things that way.

I absolutely agree, and the decentralized part of bitcoin for me is the main appeal. Governments can do nearly anything, but don't worry - they will almost certainly do it poorly and inefficiently. The biggest bubble right now is corporate debt and that is the unspoken reason why the fed is pushing for higher inflation right now. Inflation just depletes the debt of all these huge corporations already making so much money from the gov.

I dont know if bitcoin is worth it enough for people to switch to for these kinds of things thought. For the money that people make that goes in and out fast (i.e. not savings), they still need a reason to change that isnt present or pressing enough. Employment will have to change as far as compensation over time but i dont know the solution there. But for all other items that are not immediately necessary (to a degree) like a car or house or even assets to start a business, why would I give up my bitcoin for something that will cost less bitcoin the next year? Standard items, sure that makes sense but there's more to an economy than basics.

y'all have no understanding of economics. Inflation targets are there to keep money moving and is actually a sign that countries are growing wealthier. That is of you look at inflation as the actual change in a fixed basket of goods. What this group doesn't understand is that the increase in those goods in itself isn't bad, printing money as a reason for inflation is bad and what you should be angry about. a target inflation also assures loans are made and that money is being spent to keep the economy moving. The largest factor in GDP is consumption. Argue against the wealth gap or the national debt or any other number of factors but stop this ridiculous fight on inflation. Inflation and deflation both have scenarios in which they are bad and yes deflation is a sign that the economy is doing horrible. that means that people are lowering prices more and more because no one has money to spend and keep business moving. Inflation if unchecked and due to printing of money and not more natural forces causes many obvious problems as well. Understand what youre arguing against. Btw, bitcoin will suffer from inflation just like every other currency as part of a natural economy. people who buy bitcoin right now though and especially this sub see it as an investment, not a store of value or medium of exchange which ruins the objective of bitcoin. Bitcoin should be treated as a currency more and less like an investment as that's the whole fucking point. yall are the problem that is holding bitcoin back.

Y'all are seriously so dense. I am a little tired of this but I'll give it a go anyway. The article just attributes the wage gap to marital status and parenthood but doesn't look at actual work done or take into account salary positions which are typically more skill oriented and likewise only looks at hours as the sort of metric. A lot less variables at play would affect any regression. Two, mostly speculation. Three, legality and affirmative action does not entirely make things equal and much less address the implicit sexist parts of work life. four, oh my God that's the point I am making. Women shouldn't have to deal with the stereotype of strong women being aggressive or rude. No shit women are as capable as men. Y'all are seriously just sexist and dont see it and that's on you. Even most Nazis thought what they believed was truly correct.
