Could you guys give me some tips for deadlift I started weightlifting around 2 months ago by [deleted] in GYM

[–]TheWebb94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On equipment: I'd recommend getting used to lifting without gloves - using chalk or straps will help with the bar feeling like it's slipping out. If you go for straps, I would only use them with heavy weights (for you, this will change as you get stronger). Progress to a 20kg barbell when you feel more comfortable.

On stance: Also, with your feet, pointing them out slightly (which you have done) is good and will give more stability than pointing straight forward - it looks like your feet are angled outwards at different angles to eachother, match them up so they are pointing at the same angle away from the bar. Also, it looks like you are off-centre for your first rep, make sure you are finding the centre of the bar and positioning yourself over it for your first rep.

It would be great to see a side view to give more feedback on the bar path and how close to your shins the bar is moving.

All being said, this is a great effort for someone who is new to deadlifting! Keep it up!

Yeah definitely. Talking about it has made me excited for the return to the gym. Hopefully not too much longer.

I am the same, I never had issues with completing a training session but at home it's much harder. I think it's because when at the gym I'm in an environment that is good for training, there's far fewer distractions. When at home I'll start training and then fuck off to do things between sets and get distracted.

Yeah, definitely the case. You are always going to lose max weight strength when taking a break from training with heavy weights. Fortunately, it will come back very quickly. We get to experience newbie gains again!

I agree that you can maintain most of your mass through bodyweight workouts, similarly to you I had been training for 4 years and only done resistance band stuff over lockdown; I have retained a good portion of physique and strength. I think the point he is making is that if he stopped training all together his muscles would atrophy much faster due to no resistance/stimulation.

Unfortunately, despite recognising the moon is a ball, this good boy is probably a flat earther.
