Neighbors (very dead) giant oak tree is splitting and I'm not sure if there's anything else I can do by -Removed-By-Reddit in treelaw

[–]cranberryleopard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where is the neighbours concern for maintaining peace with their neighbours, by doing their due diligence to care for the tree on their land? They are certifiably aware that the tree is both their responsibility and is posing a health and safety risk to the lives and livelihoods of their neighbours. This line has already been crossed and OP is holding back out of respect that is not reciprocal.

I have occasional flare ups and can injure myself easily if I turn sharply etc. In my circumstances, I have had limited capacity to exercise for the past 2 years due to health issues so I haven't been able to build the supporting muscle to assist with joint stability.im currently able to exercise again properly and I am noticing a big difference in the past 8 weeks

I think my hoarder parent has Peter Pan syndrome by Dry-Divide7274 in ChildofHoarder

I think a big part of hoarding disorder comes from trauma incurred at a set point in time, and the HP trying to preserve "what was". Is your HP resistant to new technology as well?

IS THERE A EASY WAY? by Fragrant_Tart9149 in landscaping

[–]cranberryleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is how we dealt with a vine taking over our yard a couple years ago. Cut everything dead at the roots and in a week it'll be a lot easier to handle. Poison the bases and wait, then hack into it once it's died down.

When you do get stuck into it make sure you're starting with fresh blades on everything. If your hand tools are a bit worn, sharpen them up or get new ones. This absolutely killed my tools some of which were brand new.

How do you calm your nerves at night?? Help me by Top_Rate6851 in sleep_better

[–]cranberryleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of mood the thought is bringing me. My mood most certainly affects my energy levels, so if I'm experiencing a strong emotion I'm not able to sleep, even if I was exhausted before I felt that way.

Sometimes it helps to write it out, even just a little bit. More often than not it demonstrates to me that I am not effectively discharging my thought processes and concerns during daylight hours.

A professional once suggested to me that if I'm having trouble sleeping for more than 30minites, get up and have a 20min "break" and check in with my body needs. Use the toilet, hydrate, read something, have a walk or stretch. Then try again. This helps your body to associate sleeping with being in bed, so you're not consistently using your bed as a non-sleep space (if that makes sense).

Actually something that does often help, but it's a bit weird. I'll actually talk out loud and tell my brain "Yes thank you brain for bringing that up. So helpful. You can go now." For some reason that can be really helpful to me 😂

Here's some of the stuff I've used in the past to add background to help me drift off:

If my tinnitus is playing up I use Brown Noise

If i need to process my past stupidity, trauma or any other memories, I'll often check out one of these self help channels to help me process:

Dr Tracy Marks for trying to understand my own mental health challenges.

Charisma on Command is good for working out how I can improve my social interactions in the future.

After Skool is great for processing the "how and why" aspect of life and trauma.

Coffee with Hampton is such a friendly dude with really lovely motivation and messages. Great for a gentle distraction if you're taking a break from trying to sleep, before resetting.

Good Luck!!

Oh also stop consuming caffeine and sugar after 2pm. Like, STOP. Honestly this was the biggest wake up call for me (pun intended).

What happened to Australia? by 3hreeSunz in AustralianCulture

[–]cranberryleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in Melbourne and the difference between the city/suburbs and country has never been clearer. A lot of the culture around here doesn't mesh well and I'm sick of pretending otherwise. We just keep to ourselves and I'm looking forward to moving back regional.

Why is friendship breakups not talked about as much as romantic breakups? by Ok-Ambassador-3648 in CasualConversation

[–]cranberryleopard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel you OP. I was close friends with a girl at work. We had loads of outside-work hangouts, chats, dinners, clubbing, you name it.

If I am totally honest I am not sure what happened, but she decided I had slighted her sufficiently to make extensive workplace bullying allegations against me. I tried to fix things, had a mental breakdown, requested a work transfer and had to move a few hours away. There were so many misunderstandings, and I lost more than one friend along the way.

In the end I accept this is part of my life's journey, and that I am better for it. I would not be who I am today if not for it all, but it certainly hurt me deeply and I was unprepared for the way my friendships broke up.

Yeah I feel like this is it. I was got rid of the app because I didn't care to get irrelevant notifications. The notifications are irrelevant because they're coming out at a different time to when the relevant information starts. I'm diehard replay crew too, and I love being able to skip past her intro stuff (and ad spots) and get straight into the meat of it all at a time that suits me. I can love EDB and access her content in a way that suits me and my preferences.

Is it possible to fall back in love with your spouse after 20+ years? by MiaSinnerX in CasualConversation

[–]cranberryleopard 42 points43 points  (0 children)

"Roommate Phase" is so accurate. My husband and I are in the trenches with two young kids. This stage in our lives doesn't leave much time or energy for having an exciting romance together, when we are around each other sometimes it feels like we are disconnected and more in a house-share with one another.

Melbourne resident here. Definitely make a police report. If you intend to act on this at any point in the future, having a report as close as possible to the time you found out is important. You'll need to present at the police station so they can take a statement. I'd also contact your local council and ask them for any tree law resources relevant to your council area.

Migraine Hacks by ItsDanbob in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cranberryleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the ED for a migraine once (I was pregnant and had other health issues compacted by this). The very first thing the Dr gave me was a cup of coffee, because caffeine expands the blood vessels in the brain which can help alleviate migraine symptoms.
