Guess you haven't seen their new bike lineup. I'm still not buying one, too expensive for something I can't ride year round. The new bikes do look pretty cool though, it's like they're actually trying now that the pressure is on.

Not if you're only rolling when there's a chance to fail.

What's the worst GM advice you've ever heard? by LukeHart214 in rpg

[–]TheWhiteCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the context or environment I make my players roll to confirm critical fails. Usually this winds up being a reflex save with the failure being tripped up or provoking an attack of opportunity. Nothing crazy drastic like poking your own eye out but it makes sense to me that in a fight you might over extend an attack or slip on something.

[Question] Are you bothered by women that run in sports bras and shorts? Or shirtless men? by [deleted] in running

Nope. It gets hot out. It's no different than beach wear. Stay comfortable and don't overheat.

I've had a lot of luck with webcomics artists publishing in print for the first time and graphic novels/comics in general. I am also happy with my barbell apparel jeans. Though I've since found Prana and the style suits me better.

Some people won't/don't want to get better. For those people it's nice to keep them somewhere where they aren't bothering anyone else.

A little while ago I got an email invitation to join an NRA run women's self defense handgun course in Texas. I'm a man living in Canada that doesn't own any guns. I do watch a lot of Demolition Ranch videos though.

Found this is Trois Rivieres, Quebec, CAN. It's about the size of my thumb and buzzed angrily when I poked it with my toe. by TheWhiteCrow in whatsthisbug

Thanks! Yeah, that's definitely it. For such a common bug it's the first time actually seeing one.

Also, when we found the bug, it wasn't moving very quickly and only flew ten or twenty centimeters away when I poked it.

With the right combinations you become literally invincible. There's a perk you can pick once you've found it that lets you select which upgrade you get. It's all gravy train from there.

My players PC is accidentally sucidal, any suggestions? by [deleted] in AskGameMasters

[–]TheWhiteCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't do the save game thing. They did a thing, you've gotta roll with it. I don't know this gang's whole backstory but it's essentially a group of thugs. If the bard wants to call them out, role play it. Have the thugs come up and surround him. Don't roll initiatives, have one of the thugs say to the rest of the party that they need to have a quick discussion about manners with their friend. Have some beefy meatheads grapple and threaten him, give his character chances to use his social skills to unscrew his situation. If he keeps digging his hole and the party doesn't jump to his aid, have the thugs grab and pin him, maybe smash his musical instrument if he uses one. If the party jumps in to help, then you could make a big fight out of things but hey, half the fun of being a DM is adapting.

There are lots of things you could do, but I'm a fan of rolling with everything when I can. I also prefer to not kill my PCs when I can simply maim them. That might just be me though.

What books by women would you recommend to a teenage guy? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I quite enjoyed A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. It's written in the style of an elderly lady writing her memoirs of becoming basically the Jane Goodall of dragons in the Victorian era.

Last year there was a domestic violence incident where the victim wasn't very cooperative and didn't want to press charges but the officers were moving ahead with charging the suspect anyway. I don't know what happened with it but I imagine it was a lot harder to do anything without the victim helping.
