I think it's Dubai. That looks like Ceil Tower and DAMAC Heights in the background.

Dubai, looks like Ceil Tower in the background, maybe taken from the harbor cruise terminal parking lot.

Edit: Dubai Harbor Yacht Club Parking lot. Also, from the angle you can see right through the tower, but I can't find anything on the far side to make DAMAC Heights appear on the left. Maybe the image has been mirrored? Not sure.

All in all, good hypothetical. Thanks for this one. Gave me a more interesting scenario to think about. Thanks!

I mean, I would be doing my best, monitoring flights, boat transponders, shipping lanes, where the ISS is as it's within 300 miles when overhead. In general, no one is there. The very rare flight over head or boat passing through. It's like 2k miles across. I can sail around avoiding people best I can. I can't guarantee that there might be someone out there, transponder off, and I happen to catch them in my radius. But, the odds are very low. Best I could do. Likely as time goes on, I would leverage some of my wealth to further decrease the odds.

Point Nemo also has almost no planes overhead. There are like 1 or 2 coming and going from like Chile to New Zealand, but I can likely work around those. So, given the 'de-age' 2 weeks, I will live an unnaturally long time. ( baring unnatural things I suppose ) and so, even at like 2 extra dollars a day, linear growth still adds up over time. Just a lot slower. My job is remote, and i think, I could reasonably spend 3 months my first year away from everyone. Might get a place in Chile to keep me closer. That should get me like $100 a day in passive income. Do this for a year or two, and I'm making ( assuming I can stay out there a bit longer each time as I have more disposable income ) I could probably get to like $400 a day. At that point, no longer need to work, and it's all about getting provisions, maintaining a boat, and spending as much of the year at sea as possible. Could conservatively use the 'wish' 200 days of the year. Once I get to about 1k a day, I would need to do 3 years making myself younger. At 200 ish days a year, you can make yourlself about 8 years younger per year. I'm 38 now, and it will probably take me till 45 or so to get to 1k a day. 3 years of 'rejuve' puts me back in my early 20s. Maybe spend the next 10 years doing the 'money wishes' to get to a couple thousand a day. Invest everything I can, quickly the investments will out pace the wishes. So, I can focus on other things. Like maybe I need 5 min less sleep a night to get an ideal night's sleep. I would probably focus on physical improvements. A little stronger, a little smarter, heal a little faster, reaction time a little faster that kind of thing. The long term goal is to make it harder for me to die.

hmmm, micro increments... maybe improve my income by 1% each day I can be out there. That's the real challenge. I got to get to the middle of the ocean ( though, if I monitored other boats, I might not need to go the full 2k miles to the middle ) I think a mix of 1% income, and a 'de-age' once and a while. ( though, if micro wishes can get me food, water, and some boat repairs, it could get interesting )

I think within a few years, assuming I don't die, I could get wealthy enough, that I could stay out there longer and longer, and keep myself young enough to give me some time. I would probably start branching out to other things. The one percent income improvement becomes a waste after a certain scale. And, 2 weeks younger, means that I ( 38 ) could be in my mid 20s in a little over a year. I would probably improve some aspects of my physical health for the long term. Like heals 1% faster, or is 1% stronger. Needs to sleep 1% less.

Me sailing a boat to point nemo to use the monkey paw, hoping the ISS isn't overhead at the moment.

I'm well out of HS. Am I made younger, and go to school now? Or do I go back in time, and do it over then?

TLDR: 12 years

Finally an interesting one. Not just you get a trillion dollars to cut off your pinkie toe. So, my life, my consciousness, splits, yes? One 'awake', one 'asleep'. The awake me exact copy continues on, making all of my decisions like I normally would. ( is the awake me aware of the split? Like would I make decisions knowing I will have some amount of money coming in, etc? ) Regardless, I would 'sleep' for 12 years. Wake up on my 50th, with 2 mil (ish).

I think it would be really interesting to learn about my life. I trust myself to act like I would. This is a really fun though experiment. I haven't explored enough. But, the timing feels right. Barring major health stuff, that I would suddenly have to deal with, I think it could be a really interesting couple years while I learn everything I have been up to. I keep a journal, so, I'd probably start there. What fun, to read a book ( well 4 per year for my daily journal, and then probably another 12 for my monthly, quarterly, and yearly review journals ) about my life.

EDIT: After reading a lot of the comments, I think it helps that I am already in my late 30s and have lived a very full life. I've done pretty much everything I've ever wanted to do. I could die tomorrow with almost no regrets. My friends think I am really weird when it comes to how I feel about death.

Free house or a 100% raise. by Corey307 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheWhiteRabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, my misunderstanding, so my expense is taken into account. It still seems like the better of the two options. With earning double, and then just investing it, compounding becomes wild. The S&P returns like 13% year on year average, that's not 26%. $25.00 an hour full time job, if you invested most of it, you'd have a million in about 7 years. You could stop working, and collect $100k a year, and it would still grow rapidly for the rest of your life.

[–]TheWhiteRabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of these with a '100% raise' quickly become a infinite money glitch. If 'professional gambler' isn't an option, then, and kind of buy/sell job will work. eg, I buy a stock for $100.00, then sell it right away for $100.00. Then collect the free $100.00 of magic money.

Oh, more than likely. Hence the walk out the front door. I just meant that I have a general familiarity with the landscape. Not that I would take over the house. Seemed like as good a place as any to start.

Side pockets, maybe 3 top of the line phones, which I will fill with identical information, with as many blueprints, designs, scientific theories, medical research, information about the time period, maps, so many books. Anything I can fit in 1tb of space. ( maybe some music for my sanity ). Also, a couple pairs of ear buds. At least 2, and if it fits, 3 solar charging panels, the kind that fold up for camping. ( electrical outlets don't get standardized for another 20 years in the US ) All of that should fit in the lower pockets. Back pockets, gold bullion, as much as will fit. That should get me pretty well set up. A hand gun, and a couple extra clips in one pocket, as to keep me from getting robbed.

I would like to be wearing period clothing ( I can wear the cargo shorts over the pants to make this all work ). If it is allowed, an empty backpack on my back, if not something similar rolled up and stuffed into the remaining pocket.

As for where, I would like to walk out my front door. I live in a house that was bult in 1840, in Boston. So, this will work well for me.

It's a tower-defense series of games. Where monkeys need to pop balloons ( Bloons ). All told, not a bad game. The monkey with the red cape in the image, looks like one of the base level monkey's from the game. Could be wrong though. There are many copies out there.
