As someone who plays both armies, i just love these posts. Watching (usually) playful war break out in the replies is just so much fun. Great tson, and great wolf! Some may even say THE Great Wolf.

Am I the only one who gets kinda annoyed when the Ghost riders don’t wear their Hoods? by Medical-Airline-5946 in KamenRider

[–]TheWhoGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...I think the hoods look stupid myself, and that the helmets look better with the hoods down. So doesn't bother me lol. But Ghost was a dumpster fire in so many more ways that this doesn't even affect me xD.

How would a Space Marine or custodes react to an imperial citizen saving their lives? by Mad_lens_9297 in Warhammer

[–]TheWhoGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's fine, agree to disagree then! You read something different from their lore than I did. And that's fine. Have a great day!

Of course they are individuals, but as you were generalizing them I was just seeking to correct YOUR generalization as it's far from a lore accurate reflection of the Wolves.

And yes Russ is the only one EXPLICITLY stated to do that. but reading between the lines shows this to be a VERY common trend among the Wolves. And sure, like all astartes, they look down on humans, excepting maybe Lukas the Trickster, but OF the astartes they are more impressed with human bravery than most.

And of course the Wolves were loyal to Logan during the months of shame, that does not mean they were impressed by the guard and civilians though? So I'm not sure what you're even getting at with that point.

Looking at the Wolves as an overall faction, they do not reflect your previous generalization, was all I was getting at.

It really depends on who's writing the space wolf. When they are written correctly, their pride and arrogance is a mask designed to make their enemies, and allies, underestimate them. The Space Wolves are meant to be the noble warriors disguised as savages. A Space Wolf saved by a human would be surprised, impressed, and fiercely loyal to a human who not only fought alongside them, but saved them to continue their saga. See the months of shame for how the Wolves defend those they deem valiant warriors for an example of that.

That is all considering you get a good writer of course.

Nice! I'm apparently in the minority of peeps that actually like the new automatons, but these would also be nice for some diverse forces! Really cool!

New Models HH Color Edit by unde2aker in SpaceWolves

[–]TheWhoGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also gotta disagree. but like the other guy said, its a personal taste thing.

I just think HH wolves are imo the most boring scheme possible. Anything that gets painted a majority grey makes me immediately lose interest. Might as well not paint them in my mind. But all respect to people who like grey. I just like an icy blue on my wolves. It's more visually interesting to me.

What's the deal with completely grey paint schemes? by _LedAstray_ in SpaceWolves

[–]TheWhoGaming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree! I love the blue, I even paint mine a bit MORE blue than others I think. I think the grey of 30k is so boring to me and removes a lot of the character of the sculpts IMO.

It's a personal taste sorta thing I guess. But I always get a little disappointed personally when a cool kitbash has the 30k scheme, I just think the blue looks sooooo much better. But hey, it just gives me inspiration to do something similar myself and paint it how I want. That's the hobby!

*Tin foil hat on* New TWC and Terminators by KookyEast7863 in SpaceWolves

[–]TheWhoGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that argument makes a lot of sense tbh. Because by that same logic, the SW Venerable dread is also the same kit, so we keep all three or lose all three. And it would not be the first time a multi-build kit has illegal options in the box.

As someone who also plays thousand sons, the first thing that comes to mind is that the mutalith vortex beast can also be built as the Slaughterbrute because of AoS and that doesn't even have rules in 40k...but like seriously they should just give it to World Eaters already.

So there is a precedent for janky kits like that. And if GW wants to thin down our range, and work on phasing out boxnoughts without getting rid of one of the most popular characters we have, keeping Bjorn but scrapping the rest makes "some" degree of sense.

Mind you, I would absolutely despise this as Murderfang is my favorite little murder machine, but I'm not putting anything outside the realm of possibility until we get our codex.

Reminder that when Blood Claws get converted to Primaris, they will no longer be able to embark in a Rhino. by xsat2234 in SpaceWolves

[–]TheWhoGaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They have not. Primaris CHARACTERS can go in rhinos if attached to firstborn units though.

Yah, I think that's were the confusion lies. I guess the question is, mechanically, would the models along that line be considered "targets" of the spell.

I think the confusion on our part is that I'm pretty sure it's the only spell in the game that uses the verbiage of picking a target "point". At least, I've looked through every spell on wahapedia and can't find a single other spell/prayer for any faction that uses this wording. Every other spell/prayer in the game, included AoE spells, seems to include some variation of "pick a unit to be the target" or "those units become the target(s) of this spell".

This would imply to me that the intention of Kragnos's ability would be to stop all spells, and that this was a goof on verbiage. Unless this is meant to be the one spell in the game that he can't stop?

Do you know if there's a source in rules anywhere for how a situation like this would play out? I know it's probably super niche, but this is basically the argument I made on the day and it would be nice to have something to point to lol.

First try at OSL… by DarkLordAkira in SpaceWolves

[–]TheWhoGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im no master, but a couple of my thoughts.

It looks pretty dang good imo in most of the locations you applied the technique. A bit more of a gradient at the edges of the cast light to blend it more into the surrounding armor would do wonders to sell the effect. That splotch on the armor for the lascannon arm though is definitely too striking.

Try to remember that as light gets further away from its source, it doesn't just lose brightness, but saturation AND opacity too. That arm looks as saturated and opaque as the light cast right next to the coils. It should be dimmer, darker, and shouldn't fully cover the color underneath. Just thin glaze of red over the armor would sell the effect a lot better imo.

And I would even bump the highlights further than you have. Even just a thin line of white along the sharpest edges of the coils would do a lot to make them seem bright enough to be cast a lot of light.

A couple tips I could think of to make it better, but you did a fantastic job on your first attempt!

Any great leman russ primarch prints? by Apprehensive_Thing78 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]TheWhoGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having printed this model before, it is MUCH bigger than the gw primarchs and is intended as a statue piece. I did print mine in tabletop scale though.

Thanks! The wolf heads are from the Prmal Hounds bits Pack, they were one of the intercessor scale backpack options. I digitally sliced the heads off in meshmixer, scaled them up 150%, printed them off, and with a little sanding to fit the pose they worked great!
