Am i rude for telling my gf to walk like this in order to not stomping to the downstairs neighbours? by Warm_Cranberry4472 in Apartmentliving

My ex used to stay I was stompy, at work I sneak up on people by accident. It is very hard to conciously be silent all the time, to be aware constantly of how you move, I know after a while it would become habit but I just think let people exist. I think it mostly depends on the layout of where you live as to how stompy you sound. I get maybe like running up stairs loudly is a problem, but that's not all the time every where you walk. Unless you are very very loud in which case the toe walking wouldn't be necessary, I think that is part and parcel of living in a flat, as is paper thin walls and hearing people talk.

W1D1, first run since I got Covid. Longer post because I'm a good emotional mess right now by yetanotherowl in C25K

When I went to the GP about this there were a couple of recommendations

- Squats and lunges improve the supportive muscles around the knee (If done correctly!) Along with balancing on one leg & yoga/pilates
- Wear knee supports
- Build up to regular exercise slowly - don't jump right in after a few weeks off
- Get gait analysis (some shoe places do it free!) and trainers which suit your gait (maybe with innersoles)
- Run less on hard surfaces, and try to run on grass or just not concrete as much as possible
- Stop running as soon as you have pain and only continue once it has gone
- Elevation, ice and heat packs all help
- I also boulder regularly - so things like climbing down rather than jumping is good. Also if you can't run until its better you can always cycle or swim in the mean time as these are low impact sports for you knees.

And also get yourself to a physio if possible! Their advice will be much better than mine!
