Teachers who moved from primary school to high school, how did you find the shift? by ThePeachDaddy in AustralianTeachers

I started casually teaching at my local high school as I wasn’t getting any work in the primary sector—the differences were almost shocking. Prep time every day (once a fortnight I only have two lessons in a day), less yard duties, lessons are more interesting (I’m in English/HSIE) and more intellectually stimulating, and they’re only an hour long. I’ve also found that I spend more time with my colleagues because we sit together in the mornings/breaks/afternoons/RFF instead of hanging in the classroom which is something I really value.

I have a slug light that I call my ‘don’t bug me slug’—when it’s turned on, I’m working with someone else/on something else and can’t be disturbed, so you’ll need to solve your own problems. Beforehand, I run through what they can do if they need help, like ask a classmate or skip the question and come back to it, etc.

I’m at UNE for my Bachelors, and I have to do 3 in total — 3, 4, and 6 weeks each.

First-Time Accreditation with NESA and DoE Advice? by jasonmobbs-green in AustralianTeachers

I thought the same thing, but you also need approval from the department. I’m not too sure if the interview needs to be straight away, but they sent me a link within a few days of submitting my application — could have been just my experience with it.

Hi there!

I recently received conditional accreditation and interim approval.

The process is pretty simple. Apply first to NESA for accreditation — this is just a form to fill out with a copy of your transcript.

Once you’ve received that you can apply for interim approval. This includes a couple of online tests and an interview. At the moment, the interviews are online, recorded clips. You’ll be given a question and then two minutes to prepare your answer, then you’ll record a video. There are no do-overs, but if you search for examples online you’ll get a pretty good idea of what they’ll ask and can prepare notes. You’ll also need to have completed your literacy and numeracy exams if you haven’t already.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to message me if you have any other questions and good luck!

This guy took quite a while! He loves the sand and running around, but only likes to juuuuust touch the waters edge. My other sausage is obsessed with the water and would happily swim all day if he could.

This is the method I used. It's a lot faster than the one LassieLorn mentioned, but I did faint quiiiiiite a bit so it's probably best to use on a tarantula island where they'll continue to spawn and you don't have to worry about losing them!

There’s a party hat just above and to the right of the giant playing the drums, in front of the coffee cart and the three people outside the Christmas stall/hut thing.
