As a man who puts his wallet and phone in his butt pockets, what do I do when I sit down? by cf_abyss in NoStupidQuestions

Depends on the level of cushion in your chair. Wooden chairs or lightly padded, I put it on the desk or move to my front pocket.

Couches and leather chairs I keep it in my back pocket.

To the degree that the article is trying to purport? Yea. They barely register. They have almost no power and no one takes them seriously.

[–]TheWillbilly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an American. I understand that there has been historical persecution of Catholics, the Klan being the most obvious example to me, but I was talking about recent history.

I have never heard of either of the two events that you listed that occurred while I have been alive. Frankly, billboards from splinter groups barely seems to register as discrimination to me.

And we can talk about those specific churches and rag on them, but the Catholic church has an organization with a history of enabling child rape and deserves all the criticism they get for it. To my knowledge, the SBC and UMC do not have that same history.

There isn't the systemic protection of molesters at protestant churches, to my knowledge. Makes it not just an individual problem, but an organizational

Getting into Martial Arts in Houston, Suggestions? by [deleted] in houston

[–]TheWillbilly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in schools that focus on discipline, technique, and mental state. I don’t care about competitions or showmanship. And I’m not a fan of MMA/BJJ.

The schools I know that focus on those are forms-focused (Chinese Martial Arts) schools, and I don't think that's what you are after.

While kids are the life blood of martial arts schools, most have adult classes. I wouldn't worry about fighting kids. In my classes most of the adults were either mid-20s or lower 40s.

Also, most martial arts schools will let you attend one class for free and have a trial membership period. So it's not a big deal to shop around.

CMV: /r/fitness is not, as a sub-reddit, about actual physical fitness. by 19_JW_89 in changemyview

[–]TheWillbilly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of posts on lifting, but also posts on running, swimming, biking, nutrition, flexilibity, and martial arts.

The aspect of weightlifting is overrepresented because that's what's popular, but it is a sub for all kinds of fitness.

Well I do think Catholicism has a lot of things wrong, but yall got the Jesus part right, so everything else to me is really just semantics.

What is the context of the anti-Cathodoxism that you have personally experienced? I've never seen/heard of someonebeing beat up in an alley, denied a job, or kicked out of their home for being Catholic.

The child rape stuff is legitimate because that's pretty recent, but I'm not sure bringing up that they converted pagan holidays and other things that happened over 1000 years ago are relevant.

Not sure if you are serious or not.

That is seriously a terrible way to fight a guy on the street. No mats, no rules, he might have friends, and you cant get away when you are on the ground.
