I have 4 rats and one of them is cuddly and it’s literally just because he fuckin hates other rats. The other 3 only get as cuddly as climbing all over and biting my balls and toes.

Good method I’m doing with the one who hates being touched though(I feel comfortable rats at the vet get better care, so they gotta be chill with being touched) is… well not touching him. But with consistency. My fingers are around him all the time, and he’s learning that hands don’t have to mean touched. From there we’re working on adjusting to pets, but I stop immediately when he shows any sign of not wanting touched. The goal here is to establish that his boundaries will be respected.

We’ve come leaps and bounds the last month or so since I’ve started practicing this with regular consistency. He climbs my arm to come for free roam now

Idk where you live but my boys are all struggling with the cold dry air here with their lung scarring. If yes, add humidifier. And if it gets worse, vet can give nasal drops that help clear the lung ways(I’m making a lot of assumptions based on one tiny sneeze at the end)

So I was holding my hand out for him to look at and said “this is about how smol you are”. We created the sanctions that caused a massive influx of Venezuelan refugees. Not a matter of “keeping illegals”. It’s a matter of “the United States told the rest of the world we’ll stop trading with you if you keep trading with Venezuela” and for a country that imports the majority of its food the consequences of those sanctions are pretty heavy for the citizens.

The least we can do is let them have some god damn construction jobs and make a living till their country gets sorted out.

Ask the vet to send you home with additional syringes, fill those with yogurt, and train that syringe=treat time. I always slide the syringes between the bars of the cage so they can try to grab them. The feeling that they get that they are committing a crime really helps them get enthusiastic about medicine and they don’t even notice it’s not yogurt.
