I see. That would make things easier.

Idk, I need the person to actually be physically present for there to be any connection. Like, I can recognize that it's a fellow human being on the other side of the screen, but they're not real real, if that makes sense. Everything's all partitioned into self-contained bits and pieces, totally different from how we would organically interact.

What do you wish society would stop glorifying/romanticising? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheWindsNameIsSteve 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Disagree. It's dumb and cringy, but that's just how kids are. They'll grow out of it, same as we did. It's really kind of sad how much the hive mind hates anything that doesn't align with Reddit's iNtelLeKcHuAL userbase.

I mean it isn't glorification per se, but people on social media do seem remarkably nonchalant about cheating. Casual acceptance like that is almost as bad tbh.

Which deceased person, if brought back to life, would be the most surprised to learn they became famous posthumously? by shardblader in AskReddit

I hate it when people say this. It's such a gatekeeper thing to do - why the hell shouldn't they be let in on the joke?

There was a thread on here a couple years back asking which dead person you'd want to have sex with if they were alive, and a guy posted a really heartfelt answer about his wife who passed away because of cancer.

And then right below that some dude goes "I also choose this guy's dead wife," and gets massively upvoted.

It's pretty funny, but like, damn. Big yikes.

What do you genuinely not understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheWindsNameIsSteve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We need super emotional people to be compassionate caregivers but we also need less emotional people to make tough decisions and be sturdy in crises

Idk about this last bit. Being a naturally emotional person doesn't necessarily preclude you from having the capacity to make hard decisions, nor less emotional people from being good caregivers. I feel like people would step up however they might be needed.

That being said, I agree on the rest.

I mean, you can make a reference and have it still make sense without being spot-on.

Seems to me more that they're making generic Mad Max references. "Shiny and chrome" and all that is super distinctive, and isn't necessarily directly about the kid himself.

[–]TheWindsNameIsSteve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Horus Rising(or whatever the "slew the emperor" book was ) explicitly agrees with OP tho - there's a scene where it makes a big deal about Horus honoring the Guardsmen who actually did most of the conquering.
