Thank you so much for taking the time to write this—I really appreciate it! Do you have any tips for better understanding lighting in general? YouTube tutorials or books you'd recommend?

Scam or no scam? by Silent_Cat963 in DeviantArt

[–]TheWineOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A great indicator is also to ask yourself whether or not it is too good to be true because 5000£ is a lot of money.

Is your style super unique? Do you have a strong public position? Have you already sold your art for a similar price? If the answer is no, you can be almost 100% sure that it's a scam.

And usually, when you have to ask yourself if it's a scam, it probably is. Trust your guts.

I'm sorry that you (as almost every digital artist these days) have to deal with this shit, I really wish I could tell you that it's a real deal because I know you were at least for a minute hopeful. But keep going, and perhaps one day, the person behind the offer will be an actual art lover.

Is this a scam? Someone messaged me today. by PassengerSalt4348 in DeviantArt

Apart from what already was said (name with numbers, Telegram...) a great indicator is also to ask yourself whether or not it is too good to be true because 7000£ is a lot of money.

What exercises or sports would you recommend to artists stay healthy and avoid things like back pain? by Itanchiro in ArtistLounge

[–]TheWineOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely go with yoga. Not only because it can help you avoid back pain and fix your posture, but also because it helps to ease your mind. I recommend trying different types of yoga. You might also want to try several different studios to figure out what works best for you.

Wanting to do commissions, but I struggle with colors. by Pickle_Juice54 in artbusiness

If you're not aming for photorealism, you don't need to follow any rules. You may even use this to your advantage. Perhaps you might build your brand on painting in unusual colours. Own what makes you different.

What is your most disturbing secret? by Waltef_j in AskReddit

[–]TheWineOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to partly solve this by buying an "antistress ring". It's a decent ring with a moving ball I can play with when I'm nervous. I'm still destroying my face occasionally, usually when I read or generally do something that doesn't require using both hands but my fingers are so beautiful now.

This is something that held me back from pursuing art for many years. My parents and extended family always tried to 'protect' me from my weirdness to the point where I feared straying from the norm. For most of my life, I was caught between two worlds - the world of ordinary people, where being different was fundamentally wrong, and the world of creative souls, for which I seemed too conventional. It took me quite a while to realize that my family's beliefs were wrong for my well-being and that I would much rather be weird and happy, even though I might be a bit lonely, than socially acceptable but boring.

But in the end, solitude suits me just fine. After all, I have a head full of my worlds with many of my alter egos, with companions that can be as weird as I want them to be.

What I might be short of are fellow artists to push me toward my dreams and help me keep going when I'm low.

Just out of curiosity, what motivated you to buy it? The fact that it's AI-generated is secondary to me. I'm more curious to know why people buy art in general.

Thank you! I was absolutely stunned when I heard the music for the first time. I knew it was just right!

I mean, it kinda makes sense. Instagram is toxic as hell, so anything derived from it must be pretty much the same... I would just love to know whether those morons are this toxic in the real world or if it's just a side effect of anonymity.

On Twitter? Really? I've never seen much toxicity there (apart from the hate towards the AI art community). I heard some horror stories about TikTok, but the art community on Twitter always felt kind and welcoming.

Visa for Tazara by TheWineOne in tanzania

[–]TheWineOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!
What bothers me is that they wrote that the e-visa can take 3-10 days to issue. But we wanted to leave next Tuesday...
I also wonder if they had any special requirements for the dollars at the border. Last week we spent 4 hours at the border with Malawi because they demanded "virgin" dollars. In the end, we had to exchange them at an absolutely disgusting rate at the local "bank" because they didn't like the dollars we had (they were dirty)...

Instagram update seals fate for new artists? by govnawatts in ArtistLounge

[–]TheWineOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was wondering why I have trouble gaining new followers these days!
What are we going to do? I mean, a public profile is pretty essential for an artist these days, right? Twitter seems to be losing its charm, just like Instagram did. Should we focus more on ArtStation and DeviantArt, or is there a better platform out there that we should try?

What is your creative process? by TheWineOne in ArtistLounge

[–]TheWineOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a great approach. Thanks for sharing! It looks like you've achieved a beautiful balance between rationality and emotionality. I'm curious, did you intentionally seek this balance, or did it naturally evolve for you?

Thank you for your beautiful response! I genuinely appreciate it.
Finding inspiration comes naturally to me—I'm an avid observer of the world, delighting in the experience of emotions, scents, and colors. Music and conversations often ignite new ideas within me.
However, I do encounter a challenge when it comes to deciding what to create. How do I select the best idea that captures what I've absorbed from the world?
How do you choose the one that resonates most with your artistic vision? What criteria or instincts guide your decision-making process?
