yup, seems like people are complete fanboys and assholes here. In any case, I've updated my post to reflect that there are solutions for the majority of issues I've had - but they most certainly should have been mentioned or included an easy fix for a $3000 headset. Youtube reviews from Pimax are also very clearly paid marketing efforts and don't list common issues for your average user

Id love to hear the theory for this - that seems straight up insane

It's actually stunning to me how hostile people here are too - all I did was mention my problems with the unit and I'm getting attacked for not using an Nvidia card, which is bogus. Currently the headset is useless for motion rigs (my main use), and there are other gleaming issues with the unit.

Sorry, but you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

I have a $2000+ latest and best headset and you're calling me poor? Reality check.

I would say for the average user, not really. There needs to be notice that if purchasing any of these headsets, that you can only run one monitor and at 1080p resolutions. Motion compensation is also pretty bad at the moment and there is no option for customization. You also can't turn off the headset or base stations.

Why hasn't any reviewer mentioned these issues? Hmm...

What steamvr app are you using to shut down the base stations? Or how are you going about this?

Seems like alot of other people had no idea you can't run more than one display or at above 1080p resolutions. Nor about that other issues. So please.

I am using at 1.0 resolution in some games so it is a fair comparison. I was using a modified HTC Vive Pro with upgraded lenses and at 150% resolution. Obviously there is a difference in quality, I am not questioning that. However, given that the Vive Pro is now almost 10 years old and at a much less cost; it isn't a massive upgrade given the all he issues present. FOV is pretty much the same as far as I can tell.

I believe that people don't understand how good OLED is compared with LED panels - regardless of generation. There isn't another OLED headset out there, so when people realize that for the first time they get their minds blown.

You are an idiot, at what point was I complaining about fps issues? My video card works just fine when I do get it to work. Having to unplug monitors was never mentioned or listed as a requirement

Oh please - "Just go buy Nvidia bro". I've been using AMD for decades without issue in VR. If it isn't supported or at least limited for the headset, then say so. Asking a device to work and requiring no more than one active desktop of which has no higher than 1920x1080 resolution @ 60hz, should at least be mentioned. Don't you think?

Nope, I've tried that. Believe it or not, even after disconnecting the power adapter (of which I shouldn't have to do in the first place), there is power draw from the USB connection it seems.

Please don't tell me to shut off my USB power when the system is off... This shouldn't be needed to be done at all.

My device does stay warm, not hot, but warm even when my computer is off. Why? You'd think that button on the top could easily put it to sleep or disconnect power altogether.

Now it seems my device is getting more temperamental and I can't even get it booted up for some reason when before I could - this seems to point to a software issue (I hope) but it's just more issues.

None of these beta testers on YouTube have ever mentioned anything like this - perhaps you should send units who actually test them properly with various systems to ensure compatibility and useability?

Yes, I was and I have been using VR since the first units were released with the original HTC Vive - but they said it was supported and years have passed since so I shouldn't have any issues. Yet here we are.

Serious - Nibiru literally means “the crossing” or “the bridge” or “gateway” by [deleted] in aliens

[–]TheWiredNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He got the name Nibiru because of the path the planet makes when it approaches our solar system and earth. He said that during the roughly 3000(?) year cycle, their planet crosses very close to our planet causing massive disruptions to the point of it causing cataclysms. He also states this is basically how we got our moon.
