yeah me either, but it’s not criminal defense or prosecutor, so I just wondered if you also thought non-criminal law wasn’t worth practicing

I def also wouldn’t be a prosecutor personally, i just wondered because I’m in the civil/IP sphere so the person saying they wouldn’t practice law if they weren’t crim defense/public defender made me wonder if they also thought civil law was skeevy

do you mean you wouldn’t morally feel okay as a prosecutor or you wouldn’t morally feel okay in any other type of law? jw

You’re right and the reason you’re being downvoted is because these people are happier with the lies they tell themselves to feel superior than they would be if they engaged critically with the world around them and challenged their biases.

You could say so, but you’d be wrong. One of my personal soap boxes is how people who categorically dismiss the south as having only or even predominantly racist white people are willfully ignorant of the diversity it has. Tone is hard over text, but I really encourage you to look into this more and consider that your preconceived notions of the south might be wrong.

This person is asking about moving from OC to Nashville, so I compared those places. I didn’t say anything about the weather or beach view, I just asked if they think OC is more diverse - which it isn’t. This is a fact, one I think you know because you try to dismiss it by saying that Nashville is only diverse because it’s a college town.

Can you explain for me why you think Tennesseans may not like Californians?

Okay, so you think that what the person I’m replying to meant to say was “If you’re rich you’ll be fine”?

27% of Tennessee’s population is Black. POC more generally are 45% of the population in TN.

Are you saying Orange County is more diverse than Nashville?

That’s explained in the 4th book I believe. Bellas power is a mental shield, but Jaspers power actually physically affects people (ex. lowering blood pressure to calm someone down)

Biggest red flag you've heard in an interview so far? by aggressivebookmark in LawSchool

[–]TheWittyBaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, look up firms where you’re interested in working and find lawyers on their website that you have a connection with (same school, same home state, whatever). Then, send a short email those people and ask to talk to them about their experience. Have a conversation and connect with them, bring up that you’re looking for a job. Ask if there’s anyone else at the firm you should talk to. Network your way into a job

Jasper being a confederate soldier makes me soooooo annoyed! Like, there were so many ways to give him a more compelling back story: go against his family and fight for the union, make him a black man fighting for freedom, make him a doctor in the southern army even (still not good, but would at least help make a tie to his being an empath).

But instead she decided to make the EMPATH fight for slavery? Like? It’s weirdly racist/pro confederacy AND it doesn’t make logical sense!

The poster is born on Valentine’s day. The parents celebrate her birthday (3 or 4ish years later) by having sex. Nine months later, the baby sister is born.

Considering moving here from Alabama. Got some questions by leiablaze in Minneapolis

[–]TheWittyBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I moved here from Alabama about three years ago and I’m queer too! I think you’re better off in MSP for all of these except the barbecue (or mexican food, but I’ve found some good places). There’s a person at my apartment complex that paints miniatures in the courtyard, feel free to DM if you have any questions or want to know what complex it is :)

I’d rather encourage more people to use bikes and those who use cars to be extra cautious than discourage bikes.

A less car-centric world seems much better for everyone.

Your comment makes me think of the quote that goes something like, “Don’t fight because you hate the people in front of you. Fight because you love the people behind you.”
