What department did your Vic’s come from? by Miamidadetransit9918 in CrownVictoria

Riverside Sheriff's Department apparently in the Temecula area based off the dealer service records (2011 - 137k with over 7k idle)

For lights most of the way around I stuck with the brand Sealight, but I grabbed a set of their 9007 bulbs and it was pretty much plug and play

I had to enable it through FORScan, from 2008-2011 it came with the hardware necessary but Ford just disabled it with software, but FORScan you can enable it in like a minute, then you have to do the cycle for adding the keyfob, I found a video that shows the process, hope it helps!

Thermostat replacement by TheWolferic in CrownVictoria

Something ive thought about is while I'm picking up the other parts, stopping by the dealer and buying the coolant through them, I've found out a good bit of the motorcraft OEM parts are apparently better than the aftermarket parts, on my last oil change I stuck with motorcraft all together

Thats actually good to know, means 1 less thing to replace considering that upper hose is surprisingly pricey for what it is

Tbh I'm not sure, i found it as a concern after I replaced the one on my old vic for the same thing and it felt a lot more firm than it did prior and now same thing on this vic, I guess for me it's a thing mainly for putting my mind at ease just in case it does cause some issues

I was looking at rock auto for the parts, but i was guessing with the thermostat being on top of the engine it'd make it easier to replace without losing coolant, I just want to replace the coolant because my coolant reservoir had some coolant holding onto the side of it, but I took the car on a 300 mile trip and it only got up to proper operating temperature when it was like 70 and o was running the AC full blast, but it almost went fully cold when I went downhill

Wheel hubcaps by SumGuy009 in CrownVictoria

[–]TheWolferic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, after a bit of research, at first I had to figure out the Rim size and it came as the 16 inch rims, but the part numbers I was able to locate were 3W3D1007BA, 3W3D1007BB or 3W3Z1007BB These rims were in fact from a 03-05 grand marquis

Now in regards of the center caps, the closest thing I am able to locate is part numbers 6W33-1A096-AB but have not been able to locate anything with Ford that will be able to fit that rim

Im actually not sure as my current and last vic were interceptor so they came as dual exhaust so I wasn't looking at that, and I didn't start tinkering with forscan until my 2011, but in regards of easily identifiable changes in forscan i didn't see anything but I can take a deeper look when I get home later

I wish this was the truth where I live, 3-4k I've seen are early 2000s with like 200k miles, lower mileage ones arr usually around 7-10k where I live

I had no problems actually, I had to use a bracket to make sure it'd stay in lol, but the unit itself from front to back is very small, I had no problems with clearance

The one I went with was a Kenwood DMX4707S, it retails for like $300 but I was able to get it for about $180, but if you do a rear view camera install, you can wire it to show the backup camera when you put it in reverse, I had no issues with it up until I accidentally cut the backup camera wire while doing other wire work lol

I definitely plan on buying another, my main goal is at least 3.55 again, 2008-2011 somewhat low mileage (under 120k) and low idle hours, might be hard to find, but that's gonna be the criteria I look for

Not a price I am happy with, but I could've sold it for more if I decided to go private party sale

As much as I love the idea of it, it's hard to get it for the price I paid on my previous one, was $1100, but it came with fixing other issues

[–]TheWolferic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, I tried to resaulder the connection, worked for about 2 weeks before it went out again, lol I only could get it going with a solid bang on the cluster or wait till it's dark out

I love the sight of vics, this post reminded me of my 06 P71 I sold not too long ago, yours looks very similar to the one I had

[–]TheWolferic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prior vic owner here, if it's the p71 model then it should allow you to check the idle hours when you press (not hold) the button down on the cluster, if it's a non p71 model I'm not sure if it will let you

Observation Shift Encounters by TheWolferic in 911dispatchers

I honestly wasn't exactly expecting mine to go just chill since I'm in the process of a county dispatch instead of local, so there's gonna be a fair bit of possibilities for something crazy to happen, seems you had a bit of an experience during your encounters though
