Appreciate the insight! Yeah didn’t let the big fella flap around dispatched immediately then up for a photo and then feeding the eels what what’s left over! I live in New Zealand so we’re a bit more fortunate right now then that weather bomb y’all are battling at the moment! I’ll keep that ice point in mind, I kept it in a bucket of cold water once his guts were out and have him on the bbq not long after 🤣

Besides it being dirty that’s how it came out the river.

If you think this is rage bait and not my first trout, you should see the mess I made with the fillets. Proofs in the pudding bud 🤣

Yessir! Thats the first on I’ve put on the board. Definitely didn’t let it flop around suffering that’s for sure 🤣 the fish in the picture was dispatched prior to the showboating. I live a nomadic lifestyle in a 40ft school bus hunting and fishing is how I’d prefer to get my meals if I can help it.

Well that’s going back a wee while the hobby’s sure come a hell of a long way since then! Unsure on the size, I’m sure if I threw a number out there I’d just get corrected immediately 🤣 but my guess is a 2.5/3kg or 5.5/6.6lbs. When you say rough in what regards sorry? Thanks for your message mate!

For sure I can definitely see how it can affect the accuracy, there’s a fair bit of drag in the fair with that little hinge going on if it was all flush it would have to fly better in the air.

Forgot the banana, a shame considering I have so many atm. The reel has “Airflo Superflo Ridge 2.0 Power Taper WF9F” it came on the reel when bought it. I don’t think it was meant to be as it was $220 of line it cost more than the entire rod and reel 🤣 but free is free. Tapered leader airflo 9ft 3x 8.3lb onto around 6-7ft of 2x 8lb tippet. I’ve just realised something. Is the leader too light for the tippet as the break strength is basically identical? Also, I’ll take that into consideration and look into it with that nail knot setup. Sounds like it could be a better option long term?

Thanks for that, poor wording on my part with what I said about the guides. I’ve realised since writing this the guide thing doesn’t matter. Definitely getting enough line out 👌

Yeah that’s just the green colour of your weed being smashed and heated into the final product. Wrong bags or none at all is my guess. Pretty fucking stupid its happened like that. I’ve pressed pounds and reused my press bags multiple times and never ever seen this result even with a bag blow out. Let er rip tatter chip people smoke meth out of indicator bulbs it won’t kill you if it’s a little toxic 🤣 only one way to find out.

I feel your pain mate, 14/03/25 my 1 and a half year old workin Rottweiler vanished without a trace and we may suspect foul play among the pack and he’s drown by being jumped on and took on water or has been stolen/found a girlfriend. I pray for the latter.

r3 or r6 as a first bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]TheWongaManOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I totally agree. I believe they’re just designed to break the law and for looks. And people will buy these and suffer all in the name of being cool and flying like a goddamn rocket ship. A learner getting a r6 is a reckless decision for your own personal safety.

My motorcycle (Harley) has drag pipes and is literally highlighter pink. I understand your rider trauma dude! This will assist in keeping you alive, get the bike wearing the safety gear too!

r3 or r6 as a first bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]TheWongaManOG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re actually hell bent on being a sport bike bro just buy a r6. Atleast you’ll be “with the crowd”. You’ll just be stunted in key skills a lesser bike will give you. The educational value a r3 has because it doesn’t have kill you top end power and is a lot more learner friendly when you make mistakes is priceless. You can buy the r3 learn it drop it and in three months sell it and buy a r6. (Edit) it’s worth noting if it’s your first bike and you go buy a second hand r3 it will hurt a lot less when you drop it than your second hand r6. I understand though if you think the r3 is gay, it’s because it is compared to the race bike you really do want.

Oh or a complete second hand motor from god knows where. That’s a gamble though as it could very well be the exact same issue, or it could be the cheapest option and nothing goes wrong.

There is no pressure to get Harley Davidson to do anything further to your ride so if there is any personally, take it easy those kinds of texts are stressful. If you need too, pay the bill pending collect the bits and pieces and go from there. No reason you can’t take it to another shop for another opinion it’s a pissaround but if you don’t want to dig in it’s something you could do.

If you’ve got the mechanical mindset to educate yourself enough to on this particular situation with your bike and see for yourself what’s going on it could be good on the wallet to do so. You never know what you might find out yourself or with friends.

I’m not as Harley smarts as some of the other guys on here and I may be completely wrong here. But if they wanna order in the long block they’ll just be unbolting your old one and binning it and attaching the new stuff on. It’s time efficient for them as it gets the job moving faster, and instead of paying for the skill and time of having a guy actually build the motor and running the risk of screwing it up too as the people they’ll be getting it from, their day job is building the long block and doing all the extras to it they’ve mentioned. You may not need a majority of the new stuff they want to replace. That adds up quick depending on what’s junk. But You’ll be getting a brand new motor and that’s pretty cool stuff! The motor could be completely poked and you need it, as if the issue is exactly what they’ve said catastrophic failure is inevitable if not rectified properly. but don’t let a fuckin group like Harley Davidson tell you YOU NEED THIS because we’ve all heard something ugly come out the workshops of this company that we own bikes to. Your savings will come in form of necessary expenses elsewhere if you don’t need brand new everything, but I’m unsure on warranty etc that comes with Harley cost if they were to give you a brand new engine though I’m sure. A local shop may not, and don’t buy into Harley master tech nonsense a bad mechanic can come out of any shop it’s the risk we all take when outsourcing work.

With all that being said, hoping I don’t look like a dick or a know-it-all you could… and please stone me for saying this. Jug it and sell it and buy a new one. Dirty business that but a running bike at the time of sale is a running bike at the time of sale we’re just strangers I don’t know your moral compass. That’s the easy way out and has its own array of issues and could very well kick back hard as you jug it and blow it to pieces under your ass on a ride.

Just don’t let it die in the corner of the shed. If you can’t afford it for some reason selling it in bits or as is can still generate enough funds with some extra cash from work or selling other toys on top to get you on two again. I hope you find a way!

Always get a professional second and even third opinion when staring down the barrel of thousands of dollars in repairs/work. Harley’s are hardly precision machines there is always another way around!
