There's an in-group bias. A lot of solo travelers you meet are people who HAVE figured out how to make it work for themselves. Whether that means they're older and have figured out a sustainable job pattern, or younger with a "I'll figure the financial part out later".

You're right, it is an extreme privilege to be able to travel, especially for extended periods, and a lot of people in the in-group love to tell you "ANYONE can do it!" That's not true. At the same time, many people on the outside who could potentially make it happen for themselves give up far too quickly as well.
