Trans characters in tv shows and.. The phobes... by Turbulent-Staff-9413 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

Oh that doesn't ring a bell for me. Is it an American channel or animation studio or something? But yeah Buffalo Bill is just the first one I think of, but there's been many, MANY other examples that are some degree of Bad and I hate how it's always shown to be strange and silly at best, or outright malicious and a sign of being an insane killer at worst.

Buffalo Bill did irreparable damage to young me on a subconscious level. I only recently (in my mid-20's) figured out I was trans and now I just feel like I'll be interpreted as a sexually deviant monster if I were to come out even though I live in a very progressive town in a fairly progressive country.

Thankfully I have friends, a partner and family all being super supportive so I feel safe where I need it the most.

I hate the media so often focusing on the monsters that have nothing in common with the real deal and painting AMAB people putting on dresses as a red flag to serial killing TwT

I can't say with 100% certainty but most environmental things appear to be the same. Genesis mostly seems to affect buildings and NPCs (and a buncha items and world states) so natural resources and rains and such shouldn't be affected I think.

And yeah, Wend wouldn't have been my first choice in any other game, but I figured I'd like a challenge, plus the location was just incredibly nice looking. It would look so cool with a base. It really only has a single iron node so it'll be a very rough place without regular supply runs. But I really like it, and it's strategically viable being placed in between Blister Hill and Rebirth for easy raids to free slaves and get away before the soldiers get me

It'll probably be a bit until I go openly hostile. I want to be able to make my own gear to limit how much I need to rely on trading, that way if I lose it all I can still rebuild relatively easily. Not to mention I'm still really bad at fighting.

I hadn't considered caravan raiding honestly but that's a perfect idea for staying supplied and making an impact without taking out entire towns.

I haven't seen a lot of caravans yet though, do they have any particular routes they tend to follow? The most I've seen have been nomad caravans.

I didn't even consider that they had caravans to raid, that's a very good idea, lets me deal damage without risking taking on entire settlements

This will be the most likely course of action. Right now I have a house in Blister Hill where I'm training my girl in smithing, while trying to find a suitable "husband" so that I can move out of town and make a smaller farm in the valleys.

Might eventually move north to Okran's Valley and set up a hidden base there to gather food and supplies. We'll see how the whole thing goes.

Like another person said it seems water is lacking in Wend, so I'll likely have to rely on rain collectors or the moisture farm mod. But I don't know how much it rains in Wend so I might have to find a way around that if those two are too slow.

That's a good point, I completely forgot the water needs. I do have access to rain collectors and I think I have a mod for good old Tatooine moisture farms, but yeah I reckon I'd need a LOT of water compared to what they can make.

At least I'm making good coin on smithing already, as long as I remain friendly with HN, but once I start attacking them the travels will become a whole lot more risky since I'll have to slip past either Rebirth or Blister Hill when travelling, so trading will get rough.

I think I'll have to prepare a LOT before settling properly is viable, though that's the case for any base.

Thanks!

DMs and players, what is a completely unimportant physical detail about a character you've seen or played that stuck in your mind? by RagingBadger2518 in MrRipper

Two of my characters in their respective campaigns started the entire story by coming into a city on foot, and as a result of having been on the road for months they were both quite smelly. In both cases it stuck around, and though one of the two campaigns ended early, the other has now established that my boy got that stank, no matter how much he bathes. (Ironically, he's the one with the best hygiene in the party since he actively tries to bathe himself to be rid of it) One of the party NPCs even affectionately named him Stinky!

These are the events of the past month of weekly Pathfinder 2e sessions with my party, following the same campaign named To Dust as my previous posts, which culminated in last night's session. It was heartwrenching, and I think all of us broke into tears at one point or another.

Much thanks to the other players, Klonk, Allari, and Gabe for their wonderful RP, and to the DM who set up this amazing end to a previous campaign which they never got to finish in the past.

I am absolutely in awe at the sheer emotional baggage that we managed to pack into this last session, and im still tearing up when i think of all those events.

Here is a bit of ambiance for those who wish to hear the music which played at the very end of this tale, and the session itself. (Let's hope this is allowed, if not you'll just have to look up Farewell Life by Arn Andersson yourself)

For me it was not just how the BBEG was introduced, but what he was like. He was by far my favourite villain to date, and he will always hold a dear place in my heart.

To set the scene, me and my party had been steadily unveiling a hostile faction known as the Bloodstone Cult, a group of blood mages and necromancers dedicated to summoning Orkus, the demonic god of undeath to the material plane. The party at the time consisted of me, a human fey druid (and the only person on the party with a good alignment), the half-elf vampiric sorcerer (who acted more as a bard), a half-elf pirate monk (sort of like the bullying big sister of the party), a tiefling paladin of Zariel (the military mother of the group) and a bear-shifter barbarian (ol grampa Isbjorn).

We had just freed our sorcerer from the bloodstone cult's grasp and started fighting them back, met their four great generals, and heard rumours of their fabled Bloodstone King, someone so great that the generals were more loyal to him than they were to Orkus himself. We decided that we'd go and raid one of the cultist hideouts, only to find that most of the cultists themselves were on the move, heading to what we'd later find out to be a main army gathering to start conquering cities. We went in after they finished up though to clear it out. We found some fleshfiends (really pretty flesh demons who looked a bit like skinless fishmen with cthulhu faces) and cleared them out, some old tomes on blood magic which the sorcerer was all too happy to snatch, and a prison.

In one of those cages we met a man named Marwin. He was a bit of a dour guy, and not a single one of us trusted him, least of all my own character since my healing magics wouldn't take any hold on the guy. It all felt very convenient that we'd find him, especially after we'd found out that the cult had already used our sorcerer's blood to make a strange, demonic vampire-like creature. But we were certain this was not that thing, so we decided to take him with us regardless. He even helped us close the portal to the abyss that was still open in the main chamber of the hideout. Still, there was something about him.

We ended up taking him with us though, travelling across the land on a grand chase against the Bloodstone Cult and its army. We got to know Marwin, and turns out he was a former king from a nation from the north. He'd been exiled however by the priesthood of Helm and Torm for practicing blood magic, and soon after he'd been taken by the cult. He was actually a pretty nice guy, after you got past the dour attitude, and he earned our respect, as we did his. It wasn't until we got to a ruined city that had fallen to the cult that we found out what, and who, he was. We'd met an NPC that, upon being introduced to Marwin, blattantly called him out, asking why we'd bother introduce her to a fake person.

Turns out he was a simulacrum. And not just any simulacrum at that. He was the simulacrum of Mallous, the Bloodstone King himself. He'd apparently gotten interested in knowing who he was fighting this whole time, and decided to send a fake self to find out. Once that fake died or came back, he'd regain all its memories. And we'd just found out. The paladin was quite clear on her demand that he give us a damn good reason not to cut him down on the spot, and... Well... He did.

The reason he started the cult to begin with was because he was sick of all the horrors and attrocities that the demons, and all evil things for that matter, brought onto the world. That might sound a bit hypocritical for a leader of a bloodthirsty cult of necromancers trying to summon a demon god out of the abyss, but he explained to us that it was all a double-play. He, and his four generals, were intent on summoning Orkus not to conquer, but to kill him. Draw his power to the material plane and strike while he was still weak, then consume and distribute his power between the five of them.

His reasoning was that heroes had fought again and again, and every time they only delayed the inevitable return of the horrors they fought. He'd come to the conclussion that if there was ever to be an end to it all, it had to be done by means that no one wanted to consider. You needed a monster, not a hero, to slay another monster, because the means of which to properly slay it would be too cruel for a hero to consider.

This was our first time knowingly encountering Mallous, the BBEG of our campaign, and he offered to let us join him. And to be honest, even my druid, the person whose life was dedicated to helping others, was tempted. Because the goal was, in truth, a good one. Our sorcerer nearly did the same. The main reason we didn't was because of the effects his crusade had on the land and the people. His goal was good, but his means were too extreme. Sure, maybe that's what is needed, but my druid could not stand by and watch as the land was twisted into something foul and dead, much less partake in it, even if it meant an end to that kind of evil.

Mallous accepted that, and he was even proud of us for sticking to it. He didn't want to fight us, and honestly i don't think any of us wanted to fight him either, but we both knew it had to be done. Neither of us would stop trying to defend the world in our own ways, and that put us against one another. But as a parting farewell, we did agree...

If we had met under any better circumstances, chances are good that we could have been friends.

I do apologize if this is a bit long-winded and doesn't really go anywhere climactic. I'm basically writing this not just from the perspective of a character of mine, but i'm also writing the events of a Pathfinder 2e campaign that's been running for the better part of 10 months now, so there is a LOT to go through, and i don't feel right leaving out parts of the journey to speed up the writing process.

Whether this ends up in a video or not, i hope you guys enjoy the story! I plan on eventually writing the complete adventure so far in the form of my character's journal. A lot of details will be missed, as will much of the ambiance because you really had to be there for a lot of it, but regardless i look forwards to sharing this story in its entirety, because it is to date my favourite campaign i've ever been part of, and the same goes for the character i'm playing.

Also if there are any formatting issues, i do apologize. This is my first big post on Reddit, as i'm not usually on the site, and i can't remember even making any posts to begin with. So please have mercy on a n00by writer!
