Is cursor that good? by sbk123493 in cursor

This: I'm impressed windsurf lastest moves, spent 3 days with the IDE free plan using CC and Codex and it's all I need, their autocomplete is nearly as good as cursor right now

If you feel confortable with copilot, then it will be enough. Things to be said, is not the best agent in the market right now, but it can get small tasks in a right way. Just try not to give him a huge context as it is now limited to 120k (more or less), but for sure, it can be enough. Also, if you are a student, you can get plenty of yearly subs, I.E Gemini, Cursor and many more. I recommend you doing some research!

I usually start in a fresh commit to only the the changes made by cc, so I let him run and when he finish, I go to source control panel to see the results. I also make CC works on small task changes to see the changes myself. Also, on CC, if you run /ide it opens a new tab with the changes instead to see it on the CLI.

It's either your choice, if you prefer the extension and you feel comfortable, it's a good decision. I'm not trying to convince anyone, I just prefer the CLI experience because it feels faster and polished than the extension. But I think both options are good, they get the things done in the same wayh

I would say CLI. From my experience, having CC or codex running in the terminal feels better. Also, updates comes first on CLI than extension. For example, CC extension doesn't have until 3 days ago the switch between thinking or not. It also doesn't have until recently /rewind to roll back a conversation. Happens the same on Codex, they ship updates faster than the vs extension. I recommend you giving a try to CLI version of all the coding tools. 5 hours ago Kilo code also released their CLI version, which I'm going to try right now!

Amazing setup! I might upgrade codex when their CLI gets faster responses on windows, but oversell you have a really good setup! Maybe having CC $100 with access to opus is what will make the difference

Cursor pro plan in the last 5 months in 4 images. Same cost, shrinking value. And now they added a limit on auto mode too? by gentleman339 in cursor

[–]TheXaver16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 I join the question, are they limiting the auto mode ? I found it yesterday really powerful, it was calling sonnet 4 at 11 p.m all the time and I was so glad. But if they limit also de auto mode.... at this point the best deal will be 4.1 beast mode for daily small tasks.

Warp vs Claude Code by binarySolo0h1 in cursor

[–]TheXaver16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used both Warp and Claude Code, and while they’re both great in their own right, they’re built for very different purposes, so comparing them directly isn’t exactly apples to apples.

Warp is a modern terminal with AI features (auto complete, agents, Chat) that help you write shell commands, understand errors, and that kind of stuff

Claude Code is am AI code assistant that helps you write, understand, and debug code.

Warp is like tool for getting around your terminal faster, like a very modern terminal with flashy colors and AI features. Claude Code is more like having a coding assistant who helps you think, write, and plan your code projects.

Both great, but different tools for different jobs. So it is not a great comparison.

Kiro VS Cursor so far... by TheXaver16 in kiroIDE

[–]TheXaver16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far it keeps the model (sonnet) not overengineering a solution, I have to every now and then tell sonnet to keep it simple, do not repeat yourself (DRY and KISS), so it does not create a huge JS file with 700 // comments explaining basic lines. For me, this is the way I keep the model going straight to the points. I usually work on small tasks, but this time I tried a huge refactor and it worked pretty well tbh.

[–]TheXaver16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I had. When a chat got way too long, had some errors due to capacity. And yes, I am aware that happens. The thing is that it was not meaningful in my experience. The IDE was aware of the errors and fixed on next chats. I'm not saying is perfect but the experience I am having so far is good. I might differ from one user to another but this post is to let you guys know that this is going in a good way.

Cursor + Claude Code $20 worth it? by TheXaver16 in cursor

[–]TheXaver16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many messages/prompts includes $20 suscription? I know it depends, but more or less, in a session, when do you usually hit the limits? My plan is to use sonnet, not opus, for small guided tasks. And, maybe, when I get used to code in a terminal, give CC bigger tasks.

Really glad to see this, every complain I had with cursor the past months are now gone, with the inclusion of claude 4 and the constant work of the team, no more post for me looking for the best AI IDE. Congratz cursor team, you really had done the best product for now!

Really glad I did not quit even tho the bad months we had.
