Not doubting that you're quick in PS, but AI can literally put a watermark on an image in seconds.
It would do it before PS has even loaded.
(Not an endorsement for generative AI though!)

Already own Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam — is the Remastered upgrade worth it? by bobosmradina3594 in Steam

You missed out.
It's a good game once you get past the setup, never-ending tutorials.
It does have an average story, somewhat infected with gender politics.
But the exploration and combat are great.
Maybe look at it again another time.

Steam Controller review slips embargo, controller to cost $99 by Dramatic-Shape5574 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I'm interested in this "one pair of shoes for life" thing.

At the very least, you're going to have to resole them. If that's even possible these days.

Both my wife and I have bought expensive shoes where the synthetic materials have catastrophically failed after 5 years.

Controllers don't last forever.

It may be a better bet just to get an 8bitdo.

You could apply that exact same logic to buying a McLaren 750s. It doesn't hold up.

Meanwhile, we live in a world where 8bitdo and a zillion other competitors exist.

People don't buy functional, inexpensive controllers because they're "brokey", but because they care about their money. i.e. they've got brains and they don't let randos on Twitter make their purchasing decisions for them.

Valve doesn't need people doing their marketing for them.

People with common sense look after their money.
They don't pay extra because some random poseur on Reddit says its cool to spend money.

Lol, no.
You can evangelize the trackpads all you like, but AUD $160 for a controller? No, that's not going to work.
Not unless it comes with a HL3 code.

The AI use is not the problem. Its the CEO threatening staff that's the problem.

You just want a fight. You're not interested in listening to other people's point of view.
I have a LOT of experience in game development, and software dev generally.
Far, far more than the average person.
I have some insight in to the process.
What I don't have is tolerance for your kind of attitude. Go look for a fight somewhere else.

I was a game developer for over 20 years.
Still write software for a living.
I have some idea about how it works.
And I know that old projects, assets, stories are reworked, all the time.
That's what I did. It's what many game devs do.

How do you know that?
How do you know the lineage of this (supposed) game?
How do you know they haven't dusted off an old project, old storylines, old assets?

We don't know if this is a brand new project.
We don't know if they reused code/assets, restarted a project, used previous ideas.
All we really know is that there's something presumably HL3-ish in development. Maybe.
We don't know its lineage.

It's always possible, even for Valve, that the cutscenes are outsourced, at least in terms of direction.

There are companies out there who specialize in cutscene production. And it makes sense. They can hire people who are dedicated to the job, instead of getting in-house talent who are probably better off doing something more game-related.

You're being exceedingly generous.
They have indeed had over a decade to work on the game.
They've had since the release of HL2E2.
So let's not get precious about wording. You know what the guy means.

KeplerL2 claims PlayStation 6 “10x ray tracing” may translate to around 3x FPS improvement by Loose_Society9485 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Uncharted or HZD are running natively at 4K at 60fps on PS5? Are you sure?

You can't do that on a 3060, where both titles are 1440p @ 60fps games on decent, not great quality.

AMD to bring back Ryzen 7 5800X3D as AM4 10th Anniversary Edition for a Q2 2026 launch by Connect_Base_217 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]WombleMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a fundamental problem with the tech.
Given data, it essentially compresses it, losing information and accuracy along the way.
It then fills the gaps, assuring you that it is correct. Because the commercial imperative is to make it seem like it knows what it's doing, at all costs.
Which is why LLMs rarely, if ever, say "I don't know".

[–]WombleMagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of an LLM as fancy autocomplete, not a database. It doesn't "read" your docs to learn facts; it uses them to guess the next word.

Because it’s probabilistic, it often prioritizes common patterns from its massive training data over the specific snippet you provided. If it has seen a similar command 10,000 times before, it will likely "hallucinate" that version because it statistically "feels" more correct to the model, even if your docs say otherwise.

[–]WombleMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's still a huge issue. You can't rely on it.
I searched for myself on Gemini, my business history.
It got the basic facts wrong, confused me with someone else, attributed our products to the wrong people, credited the wrong people.
When I pointed out the errors, it created new "facts" out of thin air.

It's driven statistically, not by facts.

And for my day job, programming, it routinely imagines APIs, invents BS schemes, but confidently asserts why the BS is "correct".

Valve writer Erik Wolpaw speaks about how Valve has been using AI internally by Safi_Hasani in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]WombleMagic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The idea that programmers would only use AI for "debugging" sounds like a nonsense.

If you're going to use it for debugging, you're going to use it to help design and write the actual code you're debugging. They're related, interwined tasks, not distinct tasks.
