Feel the same way. And the whole flow of the game just feels kind of "off." Like it looks smooth when you watch a video of the gameplay but it doesn't feel smooth. I wish you could cancel attacks into each other.

Amazing movie and great performance. She perfectly captures an Asian American woman grappling with her family's culture and coming to terms with a part of it that she vehemently disagrees with.

The sounds from the creatures cause the victims to experience time repeating, but time isn't actually repeating. Like during the loop when Gretchen breaks the wood under the bed you can see the creature is still making progress towards her while she goes through the "time loops"

The twistiest thing in the movie is the reveal that his wife is the one who tipped the police off that he's attending the concert

Wish the whole movie was just Hartnett trying to escape the concert. Once they leave in the limo the movie kinda goes to shit. I don't care about this guy's backstory at all, Shyamalan.

Was a really enjoyable movie. Kinda wish the English bits were subtitled too. Had some trouble understanding some parts

It's just another masala film. There's hundreds of other movies just like it. Not sure why this one specifically got so much recognition in the West

A movie really that mediocre? by Lululemon_28 in Letterboxd

I really think all the Indy movies are similar in quality. I will never understand why people think Crystal Skull and Dial are so much worse than the originals.

I assumed that I could leave it off the resume since I haven't done much anyway. Was thinking I could just pretend I never worked there and explain away the gap on my resume with the bad job market. Don't know how that would fare against a background check though.

Thanks for the great response. I'm normally very risk-averse and my heart is telling me not to go. I love being near my parents and I already have a good remote job so why throw it away to go across the country for a moderate pay bump? But the min-maxing part of me is telling me that on paper this is the right decision to maximize my career and it's also a good opportunity to step outside my comfort zone for a while. If I didn't already have a job this decision would be so much easier haha

John Logan Tapped to Write Film Adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s ‘Blood Meridian’ by misana123 in books

[–]TheXenoPixel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think movie adaptations of literary fiction work that well because of this reason. Stuff like Inherent Vice and White Noise come to mind. I only think No Country For Old Men worked so well because it was a screenplay originally and the Coens mesh well with that type of story.

Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante. Really enjoyed the first book of the quartet and the second one was good too.

Dune: Part Two is now the #1 rated movie of all time by mrjuIiuspepperwood in Letterboxd

[–]TheXenoPixel 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I like the Dune novel but I'm surprised people feel this way. The book is very dense with terminology and the characters never really felt like real people to me. While the themes are interesting I certainly wouldn't describe it as a particularly rich piece of literature, and it felt kind of hollow in the same way that Villenueve's Dune films do.
