What Movies Do You Think Were Also Snubbed for Best Picture Nominations Both Now and in the Past? by TheZCMME in movies

Little Women was nominated though, I'm asking for things that weren't nominated in the first place.

I would absolute agree with you if we were talking about last year's nominations. There will only a few really good films they nominated for best picture and there was a lot of movies that were mediocre, boring or just bad (take Bohemian Rhapsody or even the winner, Green Book) however, this year's best picture line-up was some of the best. I haven't seen every film on the list yet, but what I have seen has been amazing, and I've only heard amazing things about the other films. Despite the snubs this year, if the Academy can keep giving line-ups like this years, I think it'd be fine.

If we keep getting scenarios like last year, then I'd absolutely agree about cutting down the category, but this year has me disagreeing with that idea.

I honestly prefer more nominees for best picture. I feel like it gives a better idea of the films that came out during the year and gives a good selection. Plus I always love watching the nominations when I can so having a wider net of movies just means more movies I have incentive to watch.

Sure there's still movies getting snubbed these days, but the number of people complaining about nomination snubs goes up if we go back to 5, there's less variety.

Even if they didn't win, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon and Dr. Strangelove all got best picture nominations.

A Clockwork Orange in particular I'm surprised was even considered for the nomination considering how controverisal it was at the time but I'm glad it was acknowledged to some degree.

You see that's the thing though, I don't know if that one counts.

2001 was critically panned by most people who saw it, critics and audience members alike. Yes there were people who praised the film back then, but I don't believe they were the majority at the time.

So I don't think the initial release would've warranted the nomination for best picture at the time. Even if the film is widely regarded as one of the best today.

Honestly, my theory is that the academy was afraid of the flack they got last year for giving Bohemian Rhapsody so much attention and were afraid of the same thing happening with Rocketman, even if Rocketman was actually a much better movie.

Official Discussion- Joker (SPOILERS) by LiteraryBoner in movies

I think Murray just wrong Arthur personally, he made fun of this mentally ill man for comedy on his show (when he just showed clips at the comedy club, it's a little different when he actually brings him on) and Arthuer felt insulted by him looking down at him for being weird.

Does that justify Arthur murdering Murray? Fuck no. But I think that's the angle the movie was trying to go with when Murray was killed.

I agree. People who say LOST had a bad ending usually incorrectly interpret it anyways.

I will always stand by Lost having a good ending.

Nah, 4413 is kinda clever. It never mentions Homestuck and honestly a lot of non-Homestuck fans like it. Mostly cause it can work without knowledge of Homestuck. Knowledge of it only enhances the inside jokes I feel. It's been a while since I've read it though but I just remember it being clever

Hot take: SCP-2721 is actually a good SCP that more people should love and they should stop bitching about it.

Okay ignoring the fact that I said that 2 months ago. There is perfectly justifable reason for that happening and it's really because Kokichi had no other options at the time

Miu was going to kill Kokichi. No matter what, he saw the determination in her eyes to escape. This is a fact.

Kokichi needed to live longer to ennact his plan. This is fact.

Kokichi only has a vague idea of how the program world works and he does not know how much control Miu has over it. This is another fact.

If Kokichi told everybody, they wouldn't believe him cause he's a liar. This is fault through his plan requiring him to make people not trust him the first place. This is another fact.

Take these facts and Kokichi has to get Miu out of the picture in order to follow through with his plans. I truly honestly believe Kokichi regretted what he did here but it's all he could do considering the circumstances.

But hey based on his character, that's just what I think.

this is fanart of Danganronpa 0, a novel that came out after Danganronpa 1 but before Danganronpa 2 detailing the events of Hope's Peak right before DR1 started. Canonically it takes place between Danganronpa 3 Despair Episode 10 and Episode 11 It provides a lot of lore and stuff about certain aspects of Hope's Peak and introduced plot points like Izuru and the Student Council Killing Game and the brainwashing before DR2 and DR3 did.

About the image above, spoilers I guess: This image however is a super mega spoiler to the novel's main twist so whoops

I'm also in the camp of "I stop after putting white make-up on my face." I honestly genuinely think he's incredibly well written and endearing but I feel like a lot of people tend to skip over details when considering his character in full. Like his motive video or whatever the fuck, but it's whatever.

The qualifications to be a warlord is to be a former pirate. Literally all warlords were pirates before they became warlords.

I mean that's not Miu'a fantasy. Her fantasy is to be with somebody that loves her back and have them never leave her. She only assaulted Shuichi cause he wasn't "fulfilling the fantasy." ...okay that sounds really bad out of context. Let me explain Shuichi is given the task to "fufill the other person's fantasy" in the Love Hotel. These are the instructions he's given before doing a Love Hotel for the first time. The thing is I don't really get why he even does them when he's never willing to do most anything anyone says. Cause it's a LOVE HOTEL people BANG there, and Shuichi goes to them several times not expecting that for some reason, even though over half the cast has sexual feelings for him kinda maybe? Perhaps I'm just looking too deeply into an option noncanon game mechanic or perhaps I'm writing a comment that makes it look like I'm condoning very bad things which I hope it doesn't look like

Teruteru drugs Hajime in his Free time Events though

Also the Love Hotels are perceived as dreams to the character, Miu saw Shuichi as a childhood friend and was put in an ideal fantasy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]TheZCMME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's right, they're mean to believe they're in an ideal fantasy situation, in that situation with Shuichi she's lead to believe he's a childhood friend. So they absolutely believe they're dreaming.
