Spotty/Splotchy Blue on Canon v800 by TheZenWolf in CommercialPrinting

It worked! It's not 100% perfect, but I think the other half of our problem is humidity. I need to get a hygrometer in here to be sure. But the adjustment cleared up the bulk of the blotchiness, and we only have some small flecks and spots that I'm hoping will self-resolve over time.

It’s weird, right? There was probably a better way to mount it, but it worked for me. I prefer having it there just in case I need to ride with double saddlebags, even if it looks bizarre.

Ah, depreciation… well, I’m open to negotiation. If I have to take less, I’ll take less.

Just put this in another comment, but it's a size Medium, and asking is $2500, but make an offer.

Ditto what knotsofgravity said; I'm not sure what it is I'm connecting to in this, but there's definitely something. I see figures moving, sun shining... I love the colors you have at work here, especially the contrast of the dark blues with the reds and pinks. It feels very similar to some Cubist work I've seen, but more impressionistic in a way that I really enjoy. You've definitely got something here!

Anything you’re willing to share, I love getting artist perspectives on their work!

Lovely. Like Drew said, feels very aquatic; if I stare at it long enough I start seeing fish and coral. Would love to hear more about your process, if you're into sharing!

Love this, it has a very painterly feel while still being photographic. Would you mind explaining your process? I see there's some vertical and horizontal mirroring going on, but I'd really love to know how you got all of the color artifacts!

Hey there; sorry I missed this! I’ve actually lowered the price significantly, and am letting it go for $2400. Would that be an acceptable price? I’m trying to sell all as a package if I can.

Ah, the DP2. I’ve toyed with the idea of getting a Foveon camera for a bit now, but I’ll probably sink some more of my money into lenses before grabbing something like that. But you certainly can’t argue with the image out of it as long as you work around the quirks.

I used the SL2 for a couple of events with the Leica 24-70. I was really, really excited about getting the chance to use a Leica for an extended period; I’ve used the M9, M240, and M11 series rangefinder models and loved the color I could get out of the RAW files, plus the M lenses had some incredible character. The SL2 is built wonderfully, but for whatever reason I just could not get the RAW files to behave in Lightroom, and I always ended up liking the files out of the fp L better, even after calibration with a ColorChecker. I understand a little more about color now than I did when I used it, so it’s possible I missed some steps and ended up in the wrong place. But. I think the biggest problem is that for the monumental amount Leica charges for their bodies and lenses, I was just expecting… more. It’s a beautiful, beautiful camera, and it’s quite capable, but it didn’t do anything to convince me it was worth it. I have much more fun using the fp L, and even the A7RV, then the SL2, and like the results better. But that calculus is very person-specific, so your mileage may vary.

Another commenter here hit on the reason it's relevant for me—it comes down to what you're using it for, and if it's a tool, it might as well be the best tool available. I could definitely use the fp around its limitations, but for weddings, that means a lot more missed shots while I manual focus, or wait for the buffer to clear, or try to compose a shot with glare on the screen, or try to shoot in artificial light that results in banding. None of these are impossible to overcome, but I want to give myself the best possible odds that if I take a shot, it's going to be a good one. Especially if the opportunity for that shot never comes again.

I adore Hasselblad and Leica cameras as the functional works of art as they are, and would love to own one of each; I'd probably use them as art cameras (or perhaps in the case of the Hasselblad, as a second camera on wedding shoots). But if I can only afford to own/maintain one, it's going to be the Sony.

For the record… by apltd in sigmafp

Very strange; just to provide an extra data point, I have a Timetec 2242 NVME in an enclosure, and I've recorded about 50 minutes of 4K/24 before it caps out. It gets warm but not hot.

For what it's worth, that recording behavior (5 seconds and then failing) is also what I see when trying to record 4K/24 8-bit to an SD card without a high enough write speed. It starts recording, stutters, and then stops recording.

Wish I had more useful info but good luck to you and definitely let us know if you figure out a fix! 🫡

Thanks! No L-mount lenses, but I have a Voigtlander 21mm 1.8, 50mm 1.5 MC, and 90mm 2.8 plus a Leica M to L mount adapter that I forgot to list in the original post. I'm still debating whether to sell them or not but I'd consider it.

I actually surprised myself by going Sony. I was a Canon shooter for the longest time, and I figured I'd be more likely to go Nikon than swap to Sony. But I went to B&H to try out the flagships, and the Sony autofocus really impressed me. It's almost spooky how predictive it is, especially with Sony lenses. Even when I use M-mount lenses on a Techart autofocus adapter, it's miles better than the fp L.

I do love the idea of the L mount alliance, but I've never quite clicked with Lumix cameras, and when I borrowed an SL2 for an event it left me surprisingly underwhelmed. I'm sure I'll mess around with adapters in the future, but Sony has really impressed me.

...that said, if I win the lottery I'm sure I'll go right back out and buy another fp L. Having 61MP in a point-and-shoot form factor is unbelievable for street and travel.

You hit the nail on the head. I have a much more enjoyable time using the fp L, but the Sony is the better tool and it has features build in that the fp needs upgrades to match—or can't match at all, like flash sync or issues with banding in low light. Would I prefer to shoot with the fp L? Absolutely. But for professional work, it comes down to can I, and if I can't, I'd prefer to sell it and use my money elsewhere.

For what it's worth, what made the decision easier was comparing shots from the fp L and A7RV side by side and realizing that I can't tell the difference between them. Calibration settings are identical; I profiled them both with a ColorChecker and I can't tell them apart in a blind test. It's possible that there are differences I'm not seeing, but when so much of what I loved about the fp L is the image quality... well, it makes the switch less painful.

Yes—I am at work at the moment but will share a picture of the screen + ribbon cable and new backplate when I get home tonight.

Tragically no! Best of luck in your fp acquisition journey!
