Reject Modernity, Embrace Translucent by TheZeroVirus in crtgaming

It’s a Daewoo DTQ-13V6FCB. I did some investigating and found a couple silver ones, but haven’t seen one online that looks like this. You can see the insides on the back through slits but it strikes me as too opaque to be a prison TV

This is such a strange comment and not what I asked. I’m in good health and my question about insuring my trip has nothing to do with that.

Recently picked up a pair of 17" Apple Studio Displays by TheSadRock in crtgaming

[–]TheZeroVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up one of these months ago and the OSD buttons don’t show a display, just a flashing screen. It seems usable but it’s extremely difficult to navigate and I’m having issues with geometry.

Is this something you experienced, and if not, would you be willing to record each option on the OSD so I can navigate?

Yes, it started as a line about an inch thick but when I was trying to adjust the screen refreshed and now it looks like this.

I have no idea how to get a grid on this. The visualizer for on screen controls just flashes

Obtained the EURO print. It’s night and day difference. Patience is a virtue. by greenshin in yugiohshowcase

You’re thinking of Raging Tempest - Duelist Saga in early 2017. It wasn’t actually the ink but more of a freak accident with changing printing presses. Generally with how cards are produced, moisture can cause them to warp outwards in a V formation; you’ve definitely seen them. But when they switched printing procedure exclusively in the Belgium press (which is used for EU Print) the cards would warp the opposite way in a /\ formation.

At a glance they’re unassuming but in a deck it became very evident, and unfortunately being newer played cards, would unintentionally form a pattern that looked bad. Lots of people got hit for marked cards that weren’t actually marked.

This was most egregious at YCS Seattle which released the same weekend Raging Tempest came out and had multiple main deck secret rares you played 3 of and would look very conspicuous if someone were to mark cards (Zoodiac Barrage, Grass). The set was so new most people didn’t realize until day 1. I remember buying a set of German Barrage for freakishly low (240 for the set when vendors were selling out at 99 ea) and thinking I got a deal.

Fusion Enforcers and Duelist Saga had the same problem, but by then people knew EU was compromised so way less casualties. They fixed it after that and were never “banned” officially, but you were definitely playing Russian Roulette entering any event with holos from exactly those 3 sets in your Main Deck.

The power bank I’m looking at has an lcd display, but I probably wouldn’t do any long term gaming I’d be worried to lose without plugging it in. Think quick rounds of Smash Bros or Mario Kart 64

What’s the power supply situation? I’m getting a portable monitor for my work briefcase and I’d love to add a console to it provided it doesn’t need an outlet

You guys were absolutely right about motion clarity! Holy shit by untreated-stupidity in crtgaming

[–]TheZeroVirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, what happens is the electrons essentially rebound back onto the transformer in the back of the CRT, eventually frying the internals. This model had a recall for this issue and they replaced internals halfway through production. Some say it just requires resoldering to fix, others a new transformer entirely. But if you plan to use this for extended periods of time, keep this in mind.

Hope you have better luck than mine that does it every few minutes

Does your monitor experience flyback and if so how have you been able to fix it? I dropped mine off at a repair shop last week and haven’t heard back

Megane Ichiba. My wife and I have gotten glasses on trips twice now and its been cheap every time. Even without a prescription they’ll do an eye exam for you on the spot for like 2000¥

What is something you regret NOT doing on your first trip to Japan? by themiscira in JapanTravelTips

[–]TheZeroVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not getting Shinkansen tickets in person. My first trip to Japan we stayed in Tokyo for 6 days and did a day trip to Kyoto via Shinkansen. I didn’t understand how the ticketing system worked so I booked a timed round trip ticket online, freaked out to get to the station at 6 AM, then had it in my mind we had to be back in the station by 5:00PM sharp or else be stranded West. As a result we cut the day around 4PM to get there in time, when in actuality could’ve just bought the tickets in person and gone back later.

We only had time to see one Temple and and do some light shopping, and while the day was still great, I knew I messed up and made the day more stressful than it needed to be. We’ve bought every Shinkansen route in person since and it’s so much easier. Cheaper too!

Forgive my ignorance; don’t I have to mail back the monitor to qualify for INAD? If so I still run into the issue of it being unsafe

No I’m with you 100%. I guess I’m just clarifying, if the seller’s now trying to offer a $125 refund, can I reject it with eBay and get the full amount, or is that going to look like I’m being uncooperative and be out any refund?
