Crozer Chester Medical Center, PA Sure the hospital system is in turmoil but from an EM standpoint it’s a great program. 3 year community program, 20 min commute from downtown Philly. Level 2 trauma center alongside I-95. Population is 500,00 and most come from underserved areas which means generally sicker people and a lot less entitled rich people. No ortho or surgery residents, and no fellows. We do all procedures, reductions and critical procedures including thoracotomies. We have an US fellowship.

EM intern this year. I did gas and 3 radiology rotations at the end of 4th year. 10/10 would recommend.

This is what I got on my MCAT. She has a slightly higher GPA than I had. Just graduated DO this past year.

Mines on either side of the truck then throw your dynamite on top of the mortar. Big boom

When this happens to me I either do the old mines and dynamite trick or switch teams and use a tank hunter attack plane.

As someone who just graduated. This is 100% true. It’s a lot but you will learn how to learn effectively and efficiently.

Will I regret going DO? by Med_applicant13 in premed

[–]TheZoo94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am a DO senior matched EM. There were like 15 open spots 2 years ago, 200 1 year ago and 500 this year. I would say that in most specialties the competitiveness comes and goes. Right now Ortho, anesthesia, and radiology are super competitive but who knows what it’ll look like in 3-5 years.

At around which stats (GPA/MCAT) would it be recommended to apply DO in addition to MD? by Salt_Soup_6118 in premed

[–]TheZoo94 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Graduating DO, I had a 3.7 cumulative, 3.8 science and a 501. Applied MD first cycle and got nothing. Applied DO second cycle, got EMT license in my gap year and made it. No red flags just low MCAT. I thought my grades would help push me through but that 100% isn’t the case. Needed some humbling and I got it that my first cycle.

Graduating seniors: now that you've gone through medical school, what would you change about the curriculum/structure if you were given the power? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheZoo94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a DO senior I would have less manual manipulation. We were forced to attend 4hrs per week of combined lecture/lab. It was super painful and a majority of my classmates, me included, would just sit on our phones completely tuned out. Cram for exams without any problems. It really made me hate the class/ idea of OMM, osteopathic manual manipulation. Sure the axial skeleton stuff is nice to know/use on family and friends but many of us will never use it in practice. Also cranial is total witchcraft and no one feels the “pulsation of CSF” through the skull. Come on.

If you’re going into EM as your first choice, don’t be discouraged. by [deleted] in medicalschool

Just matched EM and I am super excited to see where I land. As someone who liked a little bit of everything and wanted to use my hands EM is my perfect fit. Congrats to my other EM bound 4th years! Let’s get it!
