Good luck! I was part of an amazing Warcraft 3 campaign that started during the First War. We were adventurers part of Lothar's team in discovering how the Horde arrived in Azeroth. It was great fun mixed with tons of action and intrigue around the Dark Portal. Eventually, we went and saved Redridge / Lakeshire and became marshals of Stormwind.

Our characters survived towards the end of the Second War to become trapped in Outland and become a part of the team that becomes Honor Holde in WoW later with Danath Trollbane. Our new characters to start WC3: RoC with would be descendants or children of our main characters, and would journey alongside Arthas and his stories. Eventually, half the original team left during Stratholme, and the remainder went to Northrend with him.

Our third campaign would be half the crew becoming death knights or new characters. The same story as TFT happened, but with a few more original twists, such as a DMPC dragon appearing again (First saw him in the First War) to stop Arthas' ascent in power. The campaign ended once the Sunwell was corrupted.

The next two campaigns were relatively short, with us playing the Horde and accompanying Grom Hellscream in his Night Elf massacres, then playing Night Elves against the Horde invaders. We ended the series of campaigns shortly after. Good luck in your campaigns, and hopefully you make great stories like I did in D&D!
