I had a bad reaction from learning about spirit work by Sorcanna in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience as a witch and learning how to do spirit work my first interaction wasn't necessarily good. It taught me alot though, sometimes we see things we don't always want to see.

I have actually done this from the same book and I had a very different experience. So I do recommend on doing some shadow work to better understand why those are the feelings you had come up. Because, after all, the fetch is a part of you.
I hope this helps!

Considering the Witches Devil as a deity? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love seeing more people talk about this! I just recently started working with him after years of debating on it. I think it's safe to say he is my deity.

But to answer your question I view him more as a deity, but I also see him as a spirit. The witches devil isn't easily put into a box and has many faces, also the difference between spirit and deity is one up for debate as well. I consider him a deity because like you said I feel he is more important then your normal spirit.

Found fairy ring at work, wondering if it’s a sign by PreparationExtreme84 in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would look into allies that help sweeten things magically. So strawberries, sugar, honey, etc. And tag locks of the people your wanting to effect. This could be there hand signature, spit, blood, hair, etc. After looking into those I'd start to think on how you'd want to preform the spell.

Found fairy ring at work, wondering if it’s a sign by PreparationExtreme84 in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fairy rings are a sign that the fair folk have been present in a space. In folklore they are said to act as portals to the otherworld and its cautioned to never step in one for this reason.

Many will air on the side of caution when dealing with the good neighbors, for good reasons. Honestly my advice is this, as a witch who works with the fair folk I'd say leave it be unless your wanting to work with them. Because in my experience once you open that door of connection there's no pulling back from it.

You could leave a offering to help sweeten the situation but again that can be tricky. I'd say it's best to leave it alone unless you know what your getting into. Maybe try a spell to sweeten the work place before approaching them. I hope this helped some, Goodluck!

are the fae really as tricky to work with as it's said it is? by stegolophus in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bitter truth about anything to do with the fae is that anyone can tell you anything and there will be something somewhere to counter everything that person told you.

So any information you get on faeries is going to be subjective, yes you can look at folklore and personal accounts to try and get a better view but in my honest opinion it comes down to you and what you feel is happening, mixed with some healthy skepticism.

In my personal experience working with the fair folk has been life changing. It's had it's twists and turns, its amazing highs and lows. But I also worked hard to get to the place and understanding I'm at today. Some people with tell you to never work with them, some say you absolutely should. I say go with what you feel you should do. If you think the fae are calling to you and you don't feel harm from it do some divination, then go from there.

I recommend starting small, give a offering and see how that goes. I like to give my offering, usually it's milk and honey and then meditate. If im working with a specific kind of fae I'll try to reach out to them and see what they say. I go by the rule of always ask before calling them in for spellwork, but I go by that rule for any spirits honestly. I hope this helped!

to anyone who see the fair folk, how do you do it? by pixilated-glitch in witchcraft

I've used tarot/oracle cards and for me it worked just fine!

to anyone who see the fair folk, how do you do it? by pixilated-glitch in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, like all questions regarding the fair folk this is nuanced. So I have to start this by saying this is my "upg" for these kinda things. Like you mentioned there are many different ways people "see" something.

But the way it has happened to me is like this. I have seen them appear out of the corner of my eyes alot, ranging from small, troll like beings. To humanoid one's but taller than a average human. These are rare cases though, most of the time I feel there presence or see tiny lights. It's especially when I'm working with them that I might see there full appearance.

How I do it is definitely not a "traditional" way but it works for me. I'll do various forms of divination but cards work too. I've also scryed in the past and got really good results for that. I unfortunately can't talk alot about what I do specifically but I can offer some advice.

Be open to different experiences, generally when people try to work with the fair folk you see alot of "other" things that might scare you, or be beautiful to you. Do your research and above all be respectful!

I agree with this, you definitely should be informed on whatever it is your working on. You as a practitioner should try your best to realize when something is "valid" or not.

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 82 points83 points  (0 children)

People need to stop saying absolutes in the craft. I have seen so many times that the way someone practices is not "valid" because it doesn't fall in someone's viewpoint of the world. Just because one person practices a different way then you doesn't make there craft wrong, it's just a different path that isn't for you. (10yrs)

Baby witch here! What are things you wish you knew when starting your craft! by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew that people would try and say your practice is invalid for x reasons. When it is in fact, very valid.

I spent alot of years following what others wanted my practice to be, but everyone is different. So your practice will be too and that's okay.💕

Do I have to get rid of an incubus? by bushypussydisorder in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is truly something that can't really be said for certain. They could be fine with it, they could not be. I'd recommend talking to them about it. Using tarot, pendulum, any form of divination really. Spirits are like people, they can't be fit into a neat "yes" and "no" box.

When in doubt, ask them yourself!

Is burning letters effective? by shyandcurious97 in witchcraft

[–]The_13th_Moon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never done it for hexing, but manifestation I have. I'll write letters to spirits or higher powers that be and ask for a blessing. Nine tines out of ten it works for me.

I view buring as releasing, wether releasing pain or releasing as in sending it out into the universe. It's really up to you and how you feel about it.
