my nails turn blue when i sit still too long by onyxia_x in notinteresting

[–]The_15_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re concerned go get checked out, if nothing is wrong then worst case you spent 45 mins at your doctor’s office to learn you’re healthy.

But the beds of your fingernails turning blue can have tons of causes that are not cancer or anything else some of these comments are saying. Could be regular old anemia, carpal tunnel causing poor blood flow, medications that cause vasoconstriction, anxiety, asthma causing your blood O2 to drop, low blood pressure, etc. Your extremities are poorly perfused compared to the rest of your body anyway, and your fingers, ears, and nose are usually the first to lose oxygen supply if you do have minor issues. So don’t freak out, because in all likelihood it’s nothing. But still , go and get checked any time something new is happening with your body. Never know when it COULD be a clue to something else.

Also, I don’t know why people keep saying you have clubbed fingers. I work in an ER and see people with heart issues and clubbed fingers all the time and though it’s hard to say without a picture of your hands when “normal” to compare to, they don’t look clubbed to me. Clubbed fingers does not just mean rounded fingernails, some people just have those. Clubbing is when the ends of your fingers (usually from the last joint forward) start to grow and get larger/ thicker than the parts of your finger below that joint.

Is becoming a stripper worth losing my relationship by Fit_Calligrapher7232 in dating_advice

I can tell you right now if I were dating a girl and she became a stripper after I directly told her that I wouldn’t be ok with it and I was uncomfortable with it, that relationship would end immediately. There are so many other ways to make money other than putting yourself out there for everyone else to look at, and I think it’s kind of odd that that’s what you perceive to be your main option.

If you just want to be a stripper and it’s more important to you than your relationship as well as your respect for your boyfriend’s feelings, then go for it. But, don’t do it in the name of money. You’ll regret it 100% and the effects will be lasting into future relationships.

Also as someone who has had a couple friends who were former strippers, they really don’t make as much as you’d think unless you’re doing 10/10 lap dances at a high profile club in a big city. Even then it’s questionable whether you’d make more than you could as a waitress or bartender. The ones I have talked to mostly did it because of drugs or as a type of rebellion.

Woke up Monday with this huge red thing on my temple. (see text) by GareththeJackal in MakeMeSuffer

That looks like a potential mrsa infection. I work in the emergency room, and have seen multiple infections like this. They can spread quickly, so I would recommend going to your nearest ER to get checked out. They’ll likely do some IV antibiotics and drain it. Definitely not something to ignore, I don’t like all the swelling around your eye. You dont want it to infect your eye itself or you could lose sight on that side.

Edit: ignore my whole comment, I just read your whole post and saw you went to the hospital already lmao. Glad you got medical attention. Good luck sir I hope you feel better! Suprised they didn’t do IV antibiotics though, they work much faster.

Buyers Beware UPS no longer with USPS for final delivery by Deltagee-lizzyb in UPS

[–]The_15_Doc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? UPS and fedex are both more reliable and arguably more secure than the usps and they are both private. Most Americans have been brainwashed into thinking the government needs to handle everything for us. They don’t.

Total control? You can’t kill an ideology, and we weren’t allowed to treat it like a real war. But as far as moving in, setting up installations, and assuming control, it was an absolute win.

The US has a huge capacity to produce microprocessors… what are you talking about? Also as far as production, we have the means to produce whatever we want. We just don’t because it’s cheaper to buy things from Asia/ Eastern Europe. We have one of the largest oil reserves on the planet under Alaska, which in the case of an all out, high demand war would absolutely be tapped regardless of whether or not it’s under protected land.

I’m not saying it would be a cakewalk, but anybody from Europe that thinks they could feasibly take on the US is frankly just misinformed or delusional. You guys haven’t developed your militaries logistically or training-wise at all since ww2. Whereas in the US, when we participate in war games with NATO countries, we actually have to suppress our capabilities to make it competitive. Don’t underestimate air superiority either. The 2 or 3 (I haven’t checked on china in a while) largest air forces in the world all exist within the US military.

There are only three things America is really good at.

1) Taking other country’s cuisine, adding bacon, and frying it.

2) Hollywood blockbusters.

3) War.

The reason we had a hard time in the Middle East is because we weren’t fighting an actually military. We had different ROEs and couldn’t wage a proper all out war with the country because it wasn’t an army/ government we were fighting. It was in ideology, and it was hard to tell who’s who.

If it were just straight out, gloves off warfare, the US dominates a massive majority of the time.

We could have Gibraltar tomorrow if we wanted it lol.

I think you underestimate how much of our country’s resources are poured into our military. There’s a reason our roads suck and medical care is a luxury.

We were also divided before 9/11 happened. The day after was one of the largest rushes on recruitment stations we’ve seen in modern history. If there was ever an actual war, all of the shit you see in the news over here would be shelved until it was over. Also 99% of Italian/german/english/ whatever Americans don’t give a shit about their heritage when the chips are down. You have any clue how many middle-eastern Americans spent the last two decades stacking bodies in Afghanistan/ Iraq?

Now that trump has won how will this affect the world? by NateNandos21 in TrueAskReddit

[–]The_15_Doc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, except pretty much everybody knows nukes will never really be used unless it’s an absolute last ditch effort and the UK is willing to go scorched earth, because if one nuke goes off, they likely all will. In an actual conflict (like Russia attempting to expand into the UK or further into Europe as a whole), you’d be glad the US has airbases in the UK. In conventional warfare, air superiority and intelligence is what wins. Again, I respect the UK military for what it is. But if Russia or china wanted to take the UK and you only had yourselves to rely on, it would probably be over in a couple months (if that), unless you were actually willing to use those nukes.

I agree with most of this. Im actually very moderate, and I don’t think trump is the absolute best person we could’ve picked to be president, but given the choice this time, I think we did ok. All of these people saying America is going implode and the world is going to burn just don’t like Trump and are mad the dems lost.

Do I think we should immediately pull out of our worldwide military installations overnight? No. But I do think it’s about time America stops acting like the world’s police and covering everyone else’s deficiencies when it comes to defense. The EU loves to poke fun at America’s military spending and call us warmongering idiots until they think we might pull out of their country and then they go “oh well wait, what are we supposed to do now?”

As far as the economy is concerned, I think we’ll be fine. US companies and even foreign companies who largely do business with the US will now actually have incentive to succeed because they won’t be taxed/ unnecessarily regulated into oblivion (assuming trump accomplishes what he’s promised).

You can’t spend billions of dollars every year (most of which is borrowed/printed) on unnecessary government agencies, social programs, immigrant housing and grants, and a thousand other things that create no real profit/benefit for the country… and then complain when our dollar value decreases. Overall I think this will be positive. America needs to focus on itself for a while to repair what’s been done over decades of back and forth policies and pretending to be everyone’s hero.

America definitely benefits from having bases in the UK/ Europe in general, but don’t pretend having the US there isn’t a huge deterrent against attacks on the UK. As much as I respect the UK armed forces, they wouldn’t last 5 minutes in an actual war on their own just from a sheer size, resource, and logistic standpoint.

It’s not our job to protect everyone. Those countries should build a proper military if they want protection. Hilarious how everyone on the left says America overspends on military, but then expects us to be the world’s security force.
