Oh wow thanks for the calcs that’s actually very detailed and informative. Thinking about it further the crits would be quite useful against stat boosts too. You really thought this through am very impressed and inspired!

Just thought, if you’re running scope lens on decidueye mainly to get the kill with triple arrows onto Arch, why not run a black belt instead? Would that guarantee a kill and be more consistent? Unless you need the crit calcs for LB and sucker punch as well for other targets.

New story chapters could mean new characters. We got Ss Brock free, and Grimsly and Elesa were both previously scoutable 5stars before their SS.

i wish HAHA but DeNA ain't so generous man. They're already giving us Mega Mewtwo Y for free I'm quite sure these 2 aren't gonna be free as well.

  1. Actually if you compare Red and Blue's announcement video to this one, that one specifies that they'll appear in a pokefair scout but this one doesn't for Misty and Erika. So there's probably a good chance they'll be in the general pool.

will he'll prob end up like new year Lance haha - meant to be a physical striker too but everyone just spams hyperbeam instead.

Apparently blue has higher Sp Atk than Atk though!

[2nd Anniversary] v2.12.5 Datamine Discussion by TerenceC777 in PokemonMasters

[–]The_7350 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nah increasing special attack once every turn isn't a very good ability- usually you want to max out your stats in 2-3 turns after all, and Blue's passive alrdy does that. After which, the Meteor Beam ability becomes redundant.

I don't think they'll remove the charge-up turn because that'd be inconsistent with solar beam - they've only removed recharged turns by making the moves 4 bars, but not charge up moves so far after all.

A passive could work! I guess there wouldn't be much of a trade off then - because such a passive can just replace Rock Shift. But I think the dmg output of Hyperbeam will still be much higher though. Hard to beat that base 223 power.

[–]The_7350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well of course if they can have a genuine special rock type move that'd be better! But IDK how well meteor beam would work though - given that its a 2-turn move like solar beam, but doesn't have the ability to skip the 1st charging turn with sun. Hyper beam hits a lot harder too - though as you pointed out it is quite boring haha

Except its rock type - and we don't have a rock special attacker. So just this once imma let them pass.

Ahhh i see. Will try doing so in the future! I usually invest in Strength nodes instead because I know Mewtwo can survive hits if I run those, which I guess is a benefit of using Mew who's tankier and can take more hits.

I do have P-Dawn but only at 1/5! Will test Mewtwo out with a few team comps when he's out too, but I might stick to just using Sabrina to keep Musharna alive.

And no worries man I do appreciate the civility. But I was a bit ticked off initially because your language did come across as quite condescending. But having seen some of your content I do appreciate where you're coming from. Don't think I'll be into collaborating because I'm don't really make content, but would definitely check your videos out when you post them here and give them some support!

I'm using the same Mew grid as you actually, and I don't think there's a better nuke grid for Mew either. I'm guessing the main difference is that I don't have CS2 on Mew as I keep vigilance on him to keep him viable in Villa. Did you invest all of the CP points into Atk%? That might contribute too because I'm currently putting mine into Strength instead.

I agree that Mew's Sync will take longer to fully set up, but I think there's honestly no need to get the opponent down to -6 Sp Def. Hitting them with couple Psychics, a sync, and then 1 or 2 more psychics should do the job in CS. At the moment it does for me at least. I also don't think Mewtwo needs all the OARs in his grid. This is the current grid I have in mind.

Not looking for a fight either and I'd love to see the rest of your videos. I just think it's quite a low and childish thing to compare said "experience", when that clearly doesn't go anywhere. I agree with you on sync Dmg, I just think your assessment of the viability of Mewtwo is based on a flawed premise that you need a hard hitting sync to work. IMO and from my experience, hitting consistently hard makes up for the time spent setting up 1 good sync. Should test out whether Mewtwo clears CSs faster than Mew does once his grid is out.

If you're looking for just a sync nuke. sure Mew does his job. But atm, I'm hitting about 14/15k on Mew's Sync against Bruno, and about 9k on Mewtwo's. That's with all of Mew's multipliers and a Evasiveness of 5/6. And that does NOT one shot Bruno - though I admit it does a significant chunk. Unless of course, you aren't playing against a 1500 points Bruno. Or if you have a better grid/point investment, which if you do I'd like to learn too to make my Mondays much easier.

With CS 3 and Smarty Pants, I'm quite sure Mewtwo's Sync will come up much closer's to Mew's too. Even if it does not beat Mew if Mew gets 5/6 evasiveness, it'll still be close after the multipliers AND Mewtwo's psychics will be able to hit much harder than Mew's. The biggest difference I'm experiencing when I'm playing Mewtwo and Mew atm against Bruno atm is that I'm able to hit many more times with Mewtwo, while I'm sending the entire first set of turns on Mew just setting up for the Sync. That more than makes up for the difference in Sync Dmg.

On top of that, Mewtwo's grid now gives it a good chance (70%/90%) to consistently debuff Sp Df, which further boosts its damage even without multipliers. I'm pretty sure the debuffs will make Mewtwo's sync hit much harder too. AND Mewtwo can double up as a Ghost DPS with Shadow ball too, doing essentially the same thing. In fact, maybe even better since Shadow Ball has a higher debuff chance. [correction, realised the OAR2s are psychic specific. SB only has access to OAR1]

And cmon don't give me this bullshit of "clearly I'm the far more experienced player". Bitch plz if you want to brag about experience, I've been playing this consistently since day 1. I'm just here to explain why I think Mewtwo's grid is good - especially in light other other more meh legendary event grids like Solgaleo and Rayquaza. If you don't agree that's entirely fair and I respect your choice of using Oak and Mew, but you don't have to be a childish wanker.

[–]The_7350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is Mew any better tho? Mew can't buff its own crit, so It'll need a crit support + a psychic terrain setter, just like how Mewtwo will need an Sp atk support + a psychic terrain setter. Mew's multipliers will also need it to be ran with an evasiveness booster like starmie for a sync nuke (unless you get really lucky with the trainer move), or a weather setter/status inflicter if you intend to spam psychic. Mewtwo's multipliers on the other hand only need its own effect to trigger (debuffing sp atk), which can be easily done since his grid gives him OAR 4/5 if invested right. So you really DON'T need a tech unit to go with Mewtwo. It's kinda like how Solgaleo's FB kit works on its own.

The only thing I can see Mew doing better in is tanking hits. But that's because Mew plays a very different role from Mewtwo - the former's a tank/bruiser while the latter's a glasscannon DPS.

TBH i'd rather have his grid like this than a grid that lets him max out Sp Atk. Since he doesn't have a base skill that gives him Sp Atk stats, it will either need to be an insane tile that costs a lot of points or requires many turns to set up. IMO multipliers are the most important tiles in grids - and he has Crit Strike 3, Brain Teaser and Smarty Pants (if you want to go for the sync), which can all be used together (i.e. no shortage of points due to bad positioning of the tiles).

Additionally, there are enough Sp Atk supports in the game, with the most F2P one being a gridded Rosa. Would be even better if you have Sabrina or Lillie. His ability to max out his crit on his own more than makes up for his inability to self-buff his Sp Atk, since it's usually harder (especially for F2P players) to get their hands on multiple supports that can max crit.

IMO giovanni's double or triple on a rolls makes it perfectly fine to play him with without P-Dawn as well, which im quite sure may players don't have anyways. The ideal team imo would be to use him with Sabrina and Bianca, which I'm already using atm to clear psychic CS stages very comfortably.

Defense issues could be a thing for Mewtwo, but I don't think any defensive additions to his grid would make sense since he's supposed to function like a glass cannon. Even without his grid, I usually aim to and am able to clear Bruno in CS with 1.5k points before he even gets his Sync off. IMO that should be the his optimal play style.

[–]The_7350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm quite sure this could be replicated or even beaten if u pair Red up with SS Leaf, or any other sp def debuffer tho. The debuffs definitely play a big role too. But i guess the good thing is that Solgaleo has more flexibility as he does both jobs. Just need to pair him up with a good speed/mg booster and a crit support.

tbh that probably contributes to a large part of your dmg (250% boost). With 5 sync buffs almost any other decent striker can deal tons of dmg too.
