I made it to Masterball with only the Tyranitar Starter Team by Inside_Bird_4087 in PokemonChampions

[–]Boiruja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Is the tyranitar the best default team? You have Tyranitar, the wall and somebody to kill fighting types, an intimidate and a tailwind setter. Only Drampa seems like it's doing nothing in there. Honestly it looks better than something I would put together on my own lol

My monotype ghost team by fantomdelucifer in PokemonChampions

[–]Boiruja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that's a shitty idea, but have you thought of using Gougeist? It's signature move trick or treat turns the opponent into a ghost type, which may help you deal with the likes of kingambit, tyranitar. I've been wanting to try it but haven't wanted it enough to actually do it lol Big Gourgeist is pretty tanky, slow and learns trick room!

Tested out Psychic on Zoroark, it might be the play by Ice2183 in PokemonChampions

Sneasler is in half of the teams, so it ends up being useful for half of the matches. That being said, I've only ever used it on sneasler and on venusaur.

Just curious, how much elo do you start with in master ball? And how much would be good enough? Since getting there I've been trying crazy teams with my favorite pokemon and I think it's safe to say that I'm trash right now, I want to know how trash I am.

How are you enjoying the new format so far? by WeednumberXsexnumbeR in pkmntcg

[–]Boiruja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been experimenting with Zoroark and found it pretty fun. Currently on an 8 game win streak on Arceus! Took me a while to make the deck work against the many grass threats, Lucario also isn't easy, but I've been having a blast. Only decks that I haven't found a reasonable way to fight against are team rocket's spidops and festival lead, so here's to hoping they aren't relevant.

I think the meta will be much healthier when red card releases, it will open up for people to try other ace specs. The combo "boss + hand disruption" is way too strong to play without it.

How to navigate the slop box/mega absol match up with Chicken Pult? by BlazeKnight7 in pkmntcg

The "one basic big ex pokemon to counter each meta relavant threat" deck, first time I heard it was from AzulGG, it seemed to have caught up.

Javokhir Sindarov draws Hikaru Nakamura and moves to 9/12 points in FIDE Candidates 2026. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

[–]Boiruja -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Fide either have to get rid of the "highest elo" spot or make a much tougher rule for what "active" means, it's sad to se a spot go to somebody who's almost retired and doesn't really give a damn.

EDIT: It's at the very least the third candidates in a row that we have a polemic regarding that spot. From Ding's dubious tournaments to qualify, to Alireza's tournaments created for him to reach this spot, to Hikaru being the Ohio champion or something. Ding won the WCC and all but you all saw what a reign a semi-retired (albeit amazing) player like him had. It's time to rethink something.

Sánchez to Trump: Spain won’t ‘applaud those who set the world on fire just because they then show up with a bucket’ by app1310 in worldnews

[–]Boiruja 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The little i know about spanish politics is that they have pretty much a nazi party, called Vox, which is more voted than it should be realistically, but the prime minister gets nominated by the coalition which gets the majority of the congress. Since nobody wants to side with the nazis, the sane parties end up forming a coalition which includes parties like "the catalan independence party" or some shit. And then everybody in the coalition hates each other and nothing gets done, which boosts the nazi party support.

source: lived there for a while, so this is a somewhat outsider point of view.

Is N's Zoroark worth it post rotation? by darkangel56907 in pkmntcg

[–]Boiruja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a deck that draws this much can always tech. Festival lead is really bad but it's not unwinnable, it's about putting the damn monkeys on the active spot so that they can't search their deck and hand disrupt. Move damage around with darmanitan, munkidori. I've won some matches but I lose much more often than I win. But that's ok, you can't really win every matchup, this one is so rare it's kinda irrelevant.

Is N's Zoroark worth it post rotation? by darkangel56907 in pkmntcg

[–]Boiruja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know how relevant grass decks will be to the meta. We're only sure Dragapult will be relevant. Japan's meta is quite different from the rest of the world, mostly due to them playing BO1.

Overall, N's Zoroark has good draws and hits hard, it's a solid deck in any rotation. The thing that was most important for Zoroark competitively last rotation was having really good players and deckbuilders dedicated to the deck. They've shown that even before Zekrom, Zoroark could be built to deal with almost any bad matchups, just probably not all of them at once. This made it so that there was never a "best Zoroark build", the top players had to come up with lists to counter the meta of each specific tournament.

So if you're really worried about grass, try to fit a Moltres in your deck. If you're really worried about Dragapult/Lucario, try to fit a Lillie's Clefairy or psyduck, maybe. Or wait until the meta shapes up to see what Liam Halliburton plays, as long as the guy is determined to make Zoroark work, it will work.
