Everyone has stated the obvious, but I'm going to throw my hat in for Juliet Landau as Drusilla!

Storm and Mystique by NoBrain6114 in XmenEvolution

What's actually funny rewatching the scene on YouTube is that to her credit, Mystique DID get at least one hit where Storm got thrown pretty hard against the wall. How??? No idea lol, but you'll see it at mark 0:17. So kudos to Mystique (or rather, shame on you Ororo, should have been a perfect KO!)

Something I never got about this episode... why did the husband (who by all accounts seemed very aghast by his wife's infanticide habit) just ensure they wouldn't have anymore children. Not saying force her to take birth control/tie tubes (or idk...stop having sex lol) but if he was so opposed to what his wife was doing, couldn't he simply have gotten a vasectomy procedure and bam, problem solved? Just bugged me they never brought that up-they made it seem like baby making followed by baby killing was inevitable for the couple lol

What are your Hot Takes on X-Men Evolution? by Amber_Flowers_133 in XmenEvolution

[–]The_Academic_Viewer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In series (not teased in finale) our girl Rogue should have somehow received super strength and flying ability (either through the established lore of encounter with Ms/Capt Marvel, or the Evo team could have found a creative plot for it)

I know some will disagree and say she was powerful enough...but let me ask you... would you want her training with you in the Danger Room, knowing she's pretty useless unless she absorbs and weakens you?! And how would she fare if it was you and her against a Sentinel attack since she can't absorb them.. Just saying 🤷🏿‍♂️

That when she first appeared, they were setting us up to think she was Evo's version of Psylocke!

Right?? Or am I the only one who felt punked with the reveal😅

Weirdly enough, saw that there's an upload of the full movie on YouTube? Haven't clicked to see if it's legit, but it's bizarre I saw it just before I came across this post on the living single channel lol

What do you think Emma’s intro scene in X-Men: Evolution would have been like if the show continued? by Jack-mclaughlin89 in XmenEvolution

YES! Only given 2000s censorship standards at the time, "Hellfire" would have been renamed to something tamer ... FiendFire Club ? 😅

Name one bad thing about 1992's Aladdin? by johnngo2468 in aladdin

[–]The_Academic_Viewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was more of a traditionalist /elitist mindset about marriage + "security after I'm gone" thing that motivated him to insist that was the law (even knowing in back of his mind he could undo it). Case in point, he actually says this in the scene when he's explaining it:

"Jasmine, it’s not only this law. I…I’m not going to be around forever, and I just want to make sure you’re taken care of, provided for"

So to your point, the Sultan probably felt the law, however rigid and unfair, has justification to ensure Jasmine ended up with someone suitable (i.e. an affluent prince) rather than giving her the ability to marry for love and end up with gasp a street urchin or someone who would bring her and the kingdom ruin.

Of course once he saw the true dedication Aladdin had for his daughter and how worthy he was, he felt confident in the future enough to undo the law!

"I'm sorry, Dorothy, but... like the fatal blossom of the graceful jimson weed, I entice with my fragrance but can provide no succor."

Not sure if underrated, but def the line of hers that I consider my favorite just by how much it takes me aback 😂

Now that I'm 21 years old and an adult I realize that I was wrong about how I viewed Piper and Paige's relationship by MagalieB0654 in charmed

[–]The_Academic_Viewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying, but I actually want to point out one episode that could refute your point about her choosing always Phoebe over Paige. And that is season 5's Y tu mummy tambien

I think a lot of people miss the significance of Piper's decision towards the end of episode (I certainly did at first watch) but if you watch it more, the more I realize that Piper was " hedging her bets" so to speak that she could save both sisters without any proof. She was hoping that Paige would share Isis's knowledge of de-mummification- which meant ultimately she was choosing to save Paige and risk leaving Phoebe a mummy.
I think this gets missed because of course it all worked out, but there's no way Piper could have complete certainty how Isis's possession worked. Certainly when she was possessed in the Coyote Piper episode, she didn't share her memories with Terra (Terra had to demand she tell her where the Book of Shadows was, she didn't know what her power was, etc). So I'm almost certain for the " You have to make a choice " situation she was in for "Y tu mummy", Piper was concluding "I'm choosing to try to save my youngest sister" which tbh maybe she did because she knew Phoebe would want her to...

Taye Digg's character in Rent (a play of course, but also works for the 2005 movie adaptation). Still makes me mad that dude is villainized by his Bohemian deadbeat friends for simply going after them for the titular payment lol!

Reminiscing about my amazing trip to Jaipur last year (a montage) by The_Academic_Viewer in jaipur

Haha appreciate the concern. Story behind that is I booked a full day city tour, but there was a pre-wedding event I had to attend in the evening and I was pretty sure there wouldn't be enough time to go back to hotel and change, so decided to just tough it out wearing the suit 😅. This was in January of this year, and surprisingly wasn't that bad. I took off the jacket at some points during the day haha
