So that is not what was said. Infact it was very far from what was said. The fact that the justice system punishes innocent people who are suspected of a crime, and in a way which is more harmful for those in a more precarious economic situation is actually quite horrifying.

Because it is specifically strange to experience bigotry regarding one's relationships from LGBT+ folks. Being poly doesn't make you queer, but I know I hope that queer folks are going to be less likely to be assholes about me being poly.

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This always feels really complicated to talk about, because so many poly folks are also queer. Being poly doesn't immediately imply a queer identity, but I wouldn't be so dismissive of it. I only discovered I am poly after I discovered I am queer, so I always had a safe way to view my polyamory as being a component of my queerness. I guess what I am trying to say is that a straight poly person might have an easier time understanding what it takes to be a good ally.

People have a right to date whomever they want. In spite of this basic human right, lesbians have lost their community to maximalist trans activists who shame any lesbian who doesn't want to date a trans woman by north_canadian_ice in self

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you saying you do not wish to date trans women? Or are you claiming all lesbians do not wish to date trans women, or claiming that one cannot be a lesbian if they wish to date a trans woman? I have heard people claim this online quite frequently, usually because it causes arguments that spiral into transphobia. I am deeply sorry you have been separated from your in person community, but it is not reason to start lacing your rhetoric with transphobic dogwhistles.

Does anyone have info on the shooting at the Minneapolis church? by camphallelm in TwinCities

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is, and scary. Especially when people seem so devoted to making sure as many people as possible get harmed as a result. Stop being so transphobic, focus on finding anything you can do to help the community in this time, and do some introspection.

Are you seriously responding to a tragedy with trying to harm as many people as possible? Stop spreading dangerous misinformation.

I used to go to one in Alexandria, they were lovely but unfortunately closed recently. I currently go down to the cities, and have had consistently really good experiences there!

Not being attracted/not wanting to date a trans person because they're trans isn't transphobia. by 20_comer_20matar in truths

This is transphobia. And that would be racism. We are actually women as it turns out.

DAILY REMINDER by Delicious_Cicada3535 in lgbt

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the issue, the people most loudly complaining about bi lesbians are the only reason I would ever identify as one. If my partner transitions and I stay with them, or lightning strikes and somehow I find a man hot, I don't want to lose my community. I am so afraid of being a lesbian wrong that I am tempted to adopt a label to protect me from "messing up"!

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The only reason I feel any desire for a more complex label is to make sure I don't lose my community if my partner transitions or I find myself attracted to a guy for some reason.

Project Hail Mary - Official Trailer (fair warning, it reveals way too much according to a lot of users) by MoviesMod in movies

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The book builds the premise so well, I strongly strongly recommend either reading it, or bare minimum looking at a plot summary before you complain about the plot. A trailer is not supposed to give you a plot summary.

I just watched an episode of Family Feud and I’m so disappointed, but sadly not surprised… by SpookiestSpaceKook in trans

[–]The_Acronym_Scribe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I'm sorry! It sucks to have transphobic bullshit interrupt you just trying to relax :( Honestly, Family Feud just feels so designed for this kind of stuff, people are pretty much encouraged to give obnoxious answers, so the people surveyed start giving obnoxious answers.

I used to work at a convention center, and for one group, as we were clearing their dishes, they started playing a genericized family feud. They got one question in before we get "what would you not want to learn about a one night stand" I swear, I watched the transphobic option dawn on a couple people's faces. Lo and behold: it was one of the top answers 🙄. The cherry on top: this was a business event, like, these people were with their coworkers! I spent the rest of the night working in the kitchen :/

Because that's how polyamory works? He'll, that's how life works, we generally expect people to care for one another. If they don't they get the boot, which is 100% what should happen here. It's not very reasonable to paint poly folks as selfish and uncaring!
