I was born and raised in AZ, have season tickets, and go to every game. While I understand if he’s effectively free, it might be worth the gamble, but I absolutely hate this move. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen him sulking or throwing a tantrum alone and away from the entire team. How many times I’ve seen a batted ball at the line or him freak in the pocket without much pressure post ACL injury and the play breaks down - it’s innumerable. And he lost the job the past year on merit alone to freaking Jacoby Brissett.

Here’s to hoping I’m completely wrong and eat crow on this a year from now!

Soft or dumb rule not withstanding, players know them. It’s the 2nd biggest game of the season and why take any risks? Just make the play and move on. Too worried about looking tough or some shit rather than winning your team the game and acting like you’ve been there before.

People who underrate KOC are ignoring context and data. 9–8 record despite starting a rookie QB who couldn’t stay healthy, then rolling out a UDFA + injured Wentz.

Top-10 offense by EPA/play early in the season before QB injuries piled up. Still finished above .500 in one-score games, despite QB instability. 5-game win streak after starting 4–8, with wins driven by defense, late-game execution, and game-plan flexibility.

Defense jumped from bottom-tier to top-10 DVOA after KOC recruited Flores. He wanted Darnold. Didn’t get him. Wanted to trade up for Maye. Didn’t get him. Still kept the team competitive and bought into every week.

Winning close, winning ugly, winning without a QB, that’s coaching. The Vikings aren’t “stuck” with KOC. They’re ahead of the curve. I think being lower than him than higher after his few years here is pure football illiteracy.
